Yale ACT Essay Policy

I know that Yale uses the highest ACT composite and requires the essay portion. I got a perfect score on the February essay but want to retake the test for a different section. Do I need to retake the essay? (I.e. If I get a higher composite next time and take it without essay, will they look at my first test’s writing portion, or will they penalize me as though I had no essay?)

Thank you!

As Yale does not superscore the ACT, your essay from one test date cannot be used for another. If you retake the ACT, you must also retake the essay portion of the test.

That’s what I thought & signed up for. Thanks! @gibby
