Yale admits most diverse freshman class ever

Over 39 % (!!) of the incoming students identify themselves as members of an ethnic or racial minority group according to the university's website. What do you think ?

This is clearly an excellent statistic. However, I would also be interested to hear about the socio-economic diversity as well.

me too, yoshi...to say "diversity" based on just ethnicity is bs

plus, asians make up probably 20% of those minorities: hardly representative of the real world.

Last time I checked, more than 60% of the entire world's population was Asian. Of course, it's only 30% of the world's landmass, so I guess I see where you might be coming from.

Well, it as an American university, so it should be slightly more representative of the US than of the whole planet.

premier, there are myriads of very different cultures hosted within the term "Asian".

Not to mention the term "pacific islander" swallows some up.
