Are the fall athletes allowed to move into their freshman dorm a week early, or are they living in temporary space until the official move-in day for all students? Trying to book flights and coordinate logistics with very little information from the coaches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is a question for your coach, so you’ll have to wait to hear back from them. I imagine some athletes, such as the football team, are allowed to move-in to their dorms early, as they usually have team practices scheduled prior to the official opening of campus. But not all fall teams have practices prior to the campus opening. So, check with your coach. If you don’t get a response from your coach, send an email to your house Master and ask them, as student’s cannot gain entry to any of Yale’s facilities, including the dorms and gym, without your ID card being approved and programmed for entry by the Master’s office or your coach. If your coach has not already sent word about an August practice, my guess is that there won’t be one. As a result, your request to move-in early will likely be denied.
For the benefit of anyone reading this thread, the players live in temporary housing (ex hotel) during captain’s practices. Then, the players move into another temporary space on campus before moving into freshman dorms.
