Any current students here who can tell me how long the beds are? I heard they're extra long but how many inches is "extra long" and are they twin or full size? It's really hard to find them in the stores, and I don't know who else to ask.

The beds are x-long, as they need to accommodate 6’8" football players, as well as 5’2" coxswain’s.

Google “twin x-long sheets” and you’ll find many places selling them – Bed Bath & Beyond, Garnet Hill, The Company Store, Macy’s, Amazon, Target, Walmart etc.

You can find extra long twin SHEETS at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, and Lands End for sure.
Google it if there isn’t a store near you.
A regular twin comforter would be fine since it has some length/width to hang over the bedsides…
Also…
The beds in old campus are a headboard/footboard that stack like bunk beds or can be separated.
They can be lifted pretty high.
If you unstack them…
You can use a FULL size comforter/quilt over it while it is raised so the stuff stored underneath is hidden away (storage tubs, etc)

Hope that helps.

I would recommend a mattress pad and eggshell as well, to provide some comfort. These would also be Twin XL.

Thanks guys! I did call Target and the longest twin size they had was 96 in. Is that enough? I also heard that the beds vary from res. college to res. college. Is that true?

Just googled “measurement of extra long twin bed” and found:

Mattress Sizes
Twin–39 x 75 inches (or 99 x 190 cm)
X-Long Twin–39 x 80 inches (99 x 203 cm)

So, yes the 96 inch sheet should fit the X-Long 80 inch bed.

The sheet sets and mattress pads are commonly called:

Twin XL
(39 x 80 inches)

Yes, Twin XL are harder to find than Twin at stores.
There are also “college dorm” type of websites that carry many styles of Twin XL

And, no, I don’t think that mattress sizes vary between RCs. In fact, I believe that pretty much every college in the US uses Twin XL size mattresses.

The bed sizes don’t vary, but there are different types of beds. Some have drawers underneath and can’t be raised, lofted, etc.
