“Because of limited interviewing capacity, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions prioritizes interviews for students for whom the Admissions Committee needs more information” Oh yea then. ig no interview means you’re in or bust
@Tfdc does. Though it will probably be disabled until release
This was confirmed by the podcast too
Not really. Yes there is limited interview availability given the number of alums interviewing and > 50K applicants. Nevertheless, applications are pre-screened and requests for an interview are not random. A large portion of the applicant pool is not interviewed since it was clear on a first read they would not be competitive. As recently as several years ago the strategy was to interview everyone if alumni were available.
interviews are given to applicants who are promising and thats the truth.
no interview from what I understand is for either shoe-ins or rejections
My kid got 10+ interviews from all top schools he applied except for Yale. So we’ve already treated Yale as an auto-rejection.
i got an interview on march 15 lol it was super late. obv tho yale has limited resources and wouldn’t wanna waste their interviewers’ time, they only request it from applicants who they truly are are promising/not auto rejects
so if I got one for stanny I can be hopeful lmao?
every school is different…some schools u can just request interviews, others u have to be invited. some schools use it more heavily than others, like yale id say weighs it more heavily than some other schools
I got invited for Stanford, anyhow. I got into Yale so no pressure
you alr got accepted to yale? did you have an interview ? i think ppl who get accepted without interviews means they had enough in their app for yale to accept them without needing more info
I didn’t have an interview, I know I got accepted, just waiting on the portal to update
Perhaps an Olympic athlete or the child of a $100+ million dollar donor is a “shoe-in”. Every stellar candidate should hope for an interview request. It is much much more likely that they are competitive than no request suggests a “shoe-in”. Anyway, good luck to all this evening. Yale is a magical place if you are given the chance to attend and if not, all credible applicants will have an amazing and enriching experience elsewhere.
ummmm how do you know if you got accepted? likely? or “intuition”
yeah, and i got an interview march 15, i am assuming my app was in the final stages and was going between accept or waitlist? and they need more time to make a final decision ig
Both my MIT and Harvard interview were out of my local area. MIT was with the region chair for alumni, Harvard was with an alum who was originally from my area, 20+ years ago, that now lives in another country. I am domestic, and didn’t receive a Yale interview. Do you think this is due to lack of availability in my area?
possibly? for my interview for yale it was an alum from an entirely different area with no connections to my state
Nope, Yale has mentioned that it only interviews if it needs more information regarding a candidate.
Okay, makes sense. I did send in a pretty dense update letter too, around early feb.
