If applying to Yale EA, can you - or should you - send first quarter grades, even if not required? I can’t seem to find anything on this. I know it’s 18 days after the application was due.
My suggestion is to call the admissions office and ask. Although my ds is not applying to Yale, he called his first choice and they asked what major he was applying to. I got the impression for certain majors it was required, beyond that it was your choice. This concludes me to think that each school probably has their own policy on the first quarter grades.
@RPianoDad - My GC sent mine, but according to the Yale Admissions Website, they aren’t required as you note above. But if one’s first quarter grades are strong, and show an upward trend in GPA (like mine did), then it is probably helpful to send them.
Also, is your son a pianist? Is he applying to both the BA and BM programs? I’m very involved in the music program so please feel free to PM if you have any questions about undergraduate music activities at Yale. Best of luck to your son!
They can be sent. many HS’s do this across the board automatically. But it’s not required, and won’t hurt if they are not sent. Having said that, it is not uncommon for an AO to contact a GC to get an update.
