Yale Eli Whitney Student Program - 2017

@tlp123 We have all taken different paths to get here and that’s why we’re all applying to a non-traditional students program. While some of us have things in common, I doubt that any two stories are the same. If you don’t have a strong resume, maybe you’ve had a solid academic history, wrote really compelling essays, or perhaps your references said wonderful things about you. It seems like they take all of that into account, so if you’re weak in one area and strong in another, it might balance out. I wish you the best of luck! Try not to stress too much about your work experience. Just sit back, relax, and check your email every ten seconds like I am :slight_smile:

thanks very much for your support and for your comments, that really helps, I appreciate it. thanks a lot for your positive wishes as well

I had to go with Skype- I’ve got a lot going on that week. Hopefully it doesn’t bit me in the ass.

@torpedoo No, I didn’t submit my JST. Does it make any difference? I didn’t submit it to my current school either because I knew the courses wouldn’t transfer. And even if they did, I would want to take the classes again in a proper classroom setting anyway.

@herefortheb33r, first of all, cool username. Secondly, I doubt a Skype interview would affect you in any negative way. I am, however, flying out there for an on-campus interview for several reasons.

Did anyone else apply to Harvard here?

Yale wont take anything from your JST and neither would most universities. Trade schools are a different story. I didn’t apply to Harvard, but I applied to Cornell and Stanford among others.

@kgallagher I applied Cornell and Stanford also. What other schools have you applied to? Has Cornell been pretty slow on updating their application status portal on your end, too?

Cornell, Brown, Stanford, UT Austin and USC. The only thing Cornell and Stanford haven’t checked off is the CommonApp college report (a waste of paper if you ask me) but thats my CCs fault for not mailing it. Brown lost my LORs so it’s been fun hashing that out with them. Yale is definitely my top pick of the bunch though.

@SierraDelta whats your stats

Hey guys, I will be applying to colleges this next round, 2018, and I was wondering if any of you have some insight into the application process. The following are some questions that I have:

  1. Did any of you take the SAT/ACT? How hard was it? How did you prepare for it?

  2. What were the biggest hurdles, or unforseen obstacles you encounters in the application process?

Hey zooniebee- all I did was download the ACT practice exams. I studied for about a week and got a 28 because i screwed up the English section. If I took an extra 2-3 weeks I could have easily pulled a 32-35. Biggest hurdles for me was/still is making sure all my colleges receive all my paperwork. 3/7 colleges are STILL waiting on forms either because they lost them or external sources failed to submit.

@GreenBeret____ Econ major, 4.0 GPA, and a long list of extracurriculars.

Does anyone know Marianne Arrigone’s email? Many thanks!

@SierraDelta where

What does that mean? They prefer veterans more than other applicants?

Marianne said they’re not sending out any more interviews. This is not a legitimate program. They can’t make a back door for military.

I concur. What this program is doing is illegal!!!

Military applicants bring unique experiences that are unmatched on campus, a high level of maturity, limitless determination and perseverance, and have extensive government funding… and that pisses you people off?

Thanks for proving our point @kgallagher. You don’t mention academics at all. You’re a perfect match for this program. You’re the same as Hillary B accepted last year. Her reason for Yale “I’m a huge Gilmore Girls fan and the youngest Gilmore (Rory) went to Yale.” For crying out loud, Gilmore Girls is a TV show.

This program is a sham.

A prerequisite for this program is “proven academic performance” which is clearly stated on the EWSP website. The only point being proven here is why you did not get an interview. Please have some class and don’t troll this thread.
