Hi. I am offering this thread so that up to date information about graduation events and planning can be in one place. I hope it is useful
My first question is whether anyone knows when senior week is.

My apologies, as I inadvertently linked to a UPenn website and not Yale’s. This from Yale’s website: http://commencement.yale.edu/commencement-2017-2018
Thank you.
Help! I’m deep in a wardrobe dilemma! We are coming in from the West Coast and leaving after commencement to the U.K. - therefore packing VERY light (trying to do this with only a carry on, although I can mail my Commencement clothes back to myself).
So I know most everything is outdoors, rain or shine (poncho? Check). How dressy should we be aiming for?
people dressed up somewhat for DD’s in 2015. Think sport coats and khaki’s for the guys, summer dresses for the women. It was HOT. Nice capris for women were not out of place either.
Forecast is highs in the mid 60s to low 70s with rain on Monday. For myself, female, I am planning nice pants with a nice blouse and sweater. Not sure what the men in the family are planning. . .
Any pointers for those of us staying on campus? We are glad it will be cool since there is no air conditioning!
we found our on-campus accommodations fine. People to bathroom ratio very low (not all the rooms in our entry-way were occupied; in fact I think our family (on two floors) was the only one, so two people per two-person bathroom). Earplugs if you end up facing the courtyard, as there were various parties going on at odd hours (we were in TD). I guess even if you’re facing the street, as it’s a city.
Pack for a range of weather options. For my graduation in 1982, it was cold and rainy. We actually had to wear garbage bags under our caps and gowns to keep our clothes dry. Commencement on Old Campus is rain or shine, cold or hot so plan accordingly. I’ve been praying for a great day for my D’s graduation in 2018 to make up for mine.

Makes me think of my 1983 graduation from Swat. We were the only class in history to have our graduation moved from the beautiful outdoor amphitheatre to the gym (due to, as it turned out, drizzle). Now it is rain or shine, and my kiddo graduates next year. Can’t wait-- it will in some sense make up for what I missed!
Really wish I had done the on campus rooms. Now we have to get a car because we are in a hotel far away. Word to future classes: If you can’t be at a walking distance accommodation, take the res college rooms.
Are the diploma res college ceremonies usually inside or out?
It differs by residential college. On good days, most, if not all, are in the courtyard.
In some of the colleges, the ceremony is under a tent. (In JE, for example.)
