Yale/Harvard rivalry!

KU hahah ok random probably not funny story...
my spanish teacher freshman year went to KU and was in mexico or something wearing a shirt with big KU letters on the front. All the natives there laughed at him because apparently it means a ss

Illinois > Kansas at college basketball.

only this season and only because stupid self is coaching. I CAN'T BELIEVE WILLIAMS LEFT...it's been like 2/3 years and I'm still in denial.

thats a funny video clip

Harvard is rarely mentioned here at Stanford. Quite frankly, we don't really care about Harvard at all. Some of us chose Stanford over Harvard, some of us never applied to Harvard, and some of us didn't get in. The topic of harvard never comes up--that is unless we are talking about grad schools.

There's a lot of Berkeley bashing here, but that's because we are school rivals. We certainly do not think that our school is so superior to Berkeley that to even participate in a rivalry with them is an insult to our "greatness." I think it's elitist to think that another school is so inferior and beneath your own that there's no need to have a fun rivalry with them. Besides, Yale and Harvard are basically the same. If you want a superior undergraduate education, you go to Yale. If you want a superior graduate school education, you go to Harvard.

Harvard students compare themselves with Stanford.

"Crimsonites, to judge by the conventional wisdom on campus, seem to believe that despite occasional dips in the US News & World Report rankings, Harvard will retain its coveted position as #1 in the minds of the masses for all eternity. Well, some time ago across the pond, former #1's like Cambridge and Oxford held similar beliefs...until the American economy helped Harvard rise higher in status.

Moreover, Harvard can only attempt to delay a possible westward shift. Even if the university fully invests in technology, even if Harvard were to merge with MIT (yes, it has been proposed in the past), this only buys time. Technology will inevitably flow to newer, cheaper places and markets. People will inevitably move to locations that, all else equal, have milder weather. Harvard alone cannot reverse such strong trends.

In 50 years, Stanford may no longer be known as the Harvard of the West. Rather, we may become the Stanford of the East. Until then, a few of us will guiltily pray before John Harvard's statue that another California energy crisis will force the technology and innovation back to the old East."

thats just phooey

students choose a school not solely based on weather. otherwise u of Hawaii would be very competitive

The living expenses at U of Hawaii is ridiculous though because they have to import everything.

Sorry, that was random. But I agree; I don't really choose my schools on weather, although it's possible that people work better under non-depressing weather conditions. I did eliminate Dartmouth because of the weather/location though (well, that and other factors)

one reason why my instate looks SO APPEALING is because it's in the high seventies right now.

OOh today's has been warm! 21 degrees right now (better than the 9 yesterday...)

my blood has already frozen over at the thought of 21 degrees. i didn't know humans could survive. in az we whine if it's below 50.

But it gets so hot there in the summer!
We usually don't go above 100.
So, 0-100, quite a healthy range I think.

that's why we stay in our nice air conditioned supermalls, cars, and homes.

There was a great series of articles in the Crimson Magazine when I was in medical school there comparing the differences between Yale and Harvard, very worthy read for anyone who is really comparing the two. It seems that Harvard kids are thinking quite a bit about Yale.
