yale interview

I just had an interview. It was pretty scary, I don't know how well it went :</p>

mine was pretty scary too. i was sick and i kept coughing and my guy was quite intimidating.

My son said his interviewer was amazing. They shared so many common interests and passions for History and politics. I only wish the alumni interview counted for more.

I think it's been mentioned b4, but if you haven't gotten an interview & you have a "filter" on your email, you might want to check the junk file & the trash file... just in case! Good luck!

i want my interview !!! :'(

jerseygirl--If you really want to know what's going on, why don't you contact the ASC director for your region and put your mind to rest? I'd do it ASAP.

how do you do that AdmissionsAddict? I called Yale and they said all you can do is wait.

Just got done with my interview, my interviewer was very nice, and very knowledgeable about Yale and the things that go on there--Very much a normal guy, I think it went overall fairly well!

The one question I wish I would've spent more time preparing for though was "What makes you unique/better than the rest of the applicants?" -I was so careful to not sound like i was boasting that I think I might have blown that question, but the rest of the interview was fine- :-)

In a thank-you email, do you think it is appropriate to attach a resume just for some extra info?

i actually gave a resume to my interviewer

My son had an interview that went well. But will the interview make a difference in terms of being accepted or rejected?

anth_03--Call the admissions office and ask for the name and phone number of your ASC director, then call that person immediately.

Is this what you did? And do they do that give out the contact info?

anth_03--I'm an alumni interviewer, not an applicant. Read my other threads on alumni interviews for more details.

great then... I will call tomorrow
Thanks for the advice.

AdmissionsAddict, there is a Yale Club in my area, but I haven't been contacted for an interview. I emailed the president, who said she forwarded my message to the chairman of the ASC. I also emailed the contact person on the Yale website, Donna Alchimio, who told me that I would be contacted by the local club if possible. I emailed the club president again, but she hasn't responded. Is it time to give up? :(

The functions of the ASC director and the president of the Yale Club are totally separate, so don't bother the club president anymore. The alumni schools committee works with the admissions office and local Yale clubs are affiliated with the Association of Yale Alumni. While there is overlap, they are administratively different. What you need is the name and phone number of the ASC director. Donna Alchimio may very well alert your ASC director based on your email to her.

anth_03 and others who are considering calling the admissions office for your ASC director's name and number, DO IT NOW. DO IT FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING. DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE AFTERNOON. The deadline for interviews is February 15. You don't have a moment to spare. The longer you wait, the less likely the ASC director will be able to find someone to interview you.

Applicants used to get the ASC director's name and number on the written confirmation materials from Yale. If you haven't thrown that stuff out, I'd check and see if they still put it on there.

Finally, please don't get too worked up if you don't get an interview. The admissions office knows that not everyone can be interviewed and won't hold it against you.

They told me they wont give out that information and said all you can do is wait.

Yes, the Admissions Office still lists the name of the local ASC director in the letter with your PIN and Eli Account ID. (Blue piece of paper.)

Good luck! (My D doesn't have an alumnus interview either, but she did interview on campus last August.)

Folks, find the blue piece of paper with your PIN and Eli Account ID and call your ASC director if you are truly concerned about not having an interview. And do it immediately.

I never received a blue letter
