Yale Interview

Just a question:

I had my Yale interview today.........I was just wondering if every applicant gets interviewed?

Thanks

No, they only interview some people. I don't know the criteria, but some people in my high school never got called even though others had local alumni interviews.

How are these people selected? Did their apps get processed earlier? Are they just lucky (or unlucky, I guess, depending on how the interview goes...)?

It seems to be random or possibly by stats. My friend and I both applied to Yale, her app was even like.. an hour late. She got to schedule an interview.

my app was late too and i have an interview this week.

It def. has nothing to do with stats. My stats are substandard, yet I got my call so early.

duke, why do they only interview some people? Maybe interviewers "select" their interviewees? Or are they forced to interview so and so?

i think it depends on the amount of applicants/alumni interviewers in an area. if you're applying from NYC or its suburbs, you prob have a better chance of being interviewed than if you are from alaska or something.

i live and go to school in CT near Hartford, where the alumni club is headquartered, yet I haven't heard anything from yale.

Does the interviewer call you, or do you call the interviewer?

my interviewer emailed me.

same. i live near Chi. i think convenience is the main criteria to get an interview.

My interviewer called me and I met him the next day.

I have a friend that goes to my school and we have a lot of schools in common that we applied to.

There are two that have contacted her for an interview but not me (duke and brown)

There is one that has contacted me but not her (harvard)

We have similar stats except my test scores are much higher. I wonder why they do this, and if they will contact me eventually, or I should be worried?

No i'm not getting one. On my app reciept letter, it said that my school isn't affiliated with any alumni associations...

guess my school isn't a hot yale school

no one ever applies to Yale from my school, but i have an interview this week.

Most people do get interviewed...

Yeah, theoretically, everyone is supposed to get an interview but due to location and scheduling conflicts, some people don't. Getting one only means that they received at least a part of your application, nothing more.

I had got a call from Yale 3 days after I sent in my application. The call was from the Chair of Yale alumnis in my area, and we talked about an hour. THen he set up an interview for me with another guy who went to Yale. My interviewer and I then talked for over 2 hours...he was so nice..and we just flowed.

sometimes u can sign up for interviews u can sign up for an interview with USC but it's on a first serve first come basis though
