Yale, Penn, Chicago Chance (I'll chance back)

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to look my profile over and chance it. I'm a junior, and was recently appointed to a selective program of being a US Congressional Page, which is what I hope is sort of my hook, but I don't know.
I'm a junior, so i have time to improve my CR and Math SATs to about 760 and 800 (2350 would be total), respectively, hopefully, but we'll see. I'm taking subject tests in December. My goal is to have a 770+ on Math II and a 750+ on the US History.

Just wondering, which of the following application strategies do you think I should do. (just choose a number). percent acceptance will be put next to schools.

Apply ED Penn (32%) and EA Chicago (35%), and Yale RD (9%)

Apply EA Chicago (35%) and RD Penn (14%) and Yale (9%)

Apply Yale restrictive EA (15%) and RD Penn (14%) and Chicago (18%)

Order of how much I want to go to these schools:
1. Yale
2. Penn and Chicago Tie

(BTW i'm applying to safety schools and match schools because I know that the odds are against me, but I didn't put them on here because they're not really a concern and a waste of your valuable time.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING TIME TO CHANCE ME! I'LL CHANCE BACK IF YOU WANT!

1.Yale-Mid Reach (yale’s hard to get into)
2. Penn- Low Reach (Wharton’s hard)
3. Chicago- (DEPENDS ON ESSAYS; I assume essays are great)High Match

You’ll get into one for sure, probably Penn.

Well, to start out with, I disagree with Polyosophy, and with respect to him/her, I think said poster does tend to be quite optimistic when it comes to chancing. However, I congratulate you on the success of being chosen a Congressional Page! I have a close friend who was a page his Junior summer as well, and he ended up at Dartmouth (after a very odd situation). That being said, you still have a year ahead of you, so use it wisely. Firstly, solidify your position in either business or politics. Otherwise, being a Page will be a rather pointless achievement, much as if an MIT applicant was more interested in art than science. Show you are a leader–the leadership positions you highlight are not particularly strong. Take the ACT and SAT IIs as soon as you feel comforable; give yourself room to wiggle in case you mess up. Otherwise, it all looks quite good. Keep it up, and make sure you use your summer wisely.

Yale-High Reach

UPenn (Wharton)-High Reach

UChicago-Low Reach

I agree with the above poster in that you don’t seem business-oriented enough for Wharton, or business undergrad in general. You have great grades, rank, and a good SAT score. Fair amount of volunteer hours, and the Page program is awesome! Keep working hard, but as it stands, you stand a better shot as a poli sci major than a biz major, so be wary of that. Prep for more ACT/SATs, and def get solid SAT II scores, as those can only help. Good luck :)

Yeah, you guys are right. I usually am too lenient. I agree with big dreamer’s chance.

@Polyosophy: I was really lenient in some of my posts too lol. I’m so sympathetic now that it’s affecting my chance predictions lolz.

so what leadership positions could i do?
I thought that being president of recycling, and actually bringing more recycling to our school would be pretty strong along with starting a tutoring program and establishing it in county libraries? I’m going to apply for the head of service department at our school, which I will most likely get considering my high involvement. So if you had any other suggestions, that would be great!

I think that big dreamer is right about the business orientated approach…
you should be applying to more polysci schools…

but at the same time i disagree that with his/her chances… yale high reach (for everyone)
Upenn (low reach) But I wouldn’t advise… try another polysci school…
and uchicago… high match :D

in terms of the admissions plan… well you have to chose your favorite and go on from there… I mean if yale was your top choice and you get accepted in UPenn ED then yale RD… and you couldn’t go to yale…

please chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1034118-chance-me-ill-chance-back-quickl-d.html</a></p>

bump bump bump

Wow I feel like I just read something I would post…

I just got accepted to the page program too, and I want to go to Yale to… (but for poli sci). Anyway, are you in the program this spring? If, so I’ll see you there!

They all look reasonable. Yale might be tough. Please chance me

bump bump bump

Yale-Mid-High Reach
Penn-Low-mid Reach
Chicago-High Match/Low reach
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1035327-chance-me-ill-chance-back.html#post1065922443</a></p>

bump!!!

also, if you’d like, tell me what my chances are with my projected SAT score (jumping from 2240 to 2350)

You can’t really project an SAT score.

Bump!!!

I think you have a great chance at Penn, my dad has done alumni interviews for them, and they will really like that you were a congressional page, I was thinking of doing that, but am too lazy!

Yale is a high reach, Penn a Low-mid Reach, and Chicago a low reach. Your 2350 may help, but again, with these schools, a lot of the applicants will have similar scores and something else needs to stand out.
Good luck!

i dont think you should choose your early plan based on acceptance %'s… pick the school you want to go to the most. if you don’t like 1 clearly over the others, don’t go early.
