Yale Penpal?

I got a really nice email from a freshman yesterday congratulating me on my acceptance, introducing himself, describing Yale, and asking me if I had any questions. He called himself my "Yale Penpal." Has anyone else gotten one of these emails yet? It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Hey, I got one too! We should post all the questions / responses that we get so everyone can benefit from them.

hey no fair. i want one

I guess this is part of the courtship after EA acceptance. :p

I got one as well.

Do all acceptees get one? I want one! LOL

Nevermind...I got one too! This is pretty cool....and probably very beneficial as we make our decisions in April. Hey, has anyone contacted the people they listed on the admitted students website?

I am a Yale Penpal writer and I am pretty sure that they are trying to make sure all EA acceptees get assigned one. Now, the only question is if your Penpal writer flakes out on you or not.

What kind of questions do you guys expect? Because frankly I'm all questioned out. But I'm sure there's some question, that I'm forgetting.

I don't know they just told me to answer whatever questions you had. I just signed up to do it, I know nothing about the program

Chasgoose, here are a few questions for you:

How is food served? Is it all-you-can eat, buffet style or pay-per-item, or what?

Also, should I bring my car with me?

In case chasgoose takes a while...

food is buffet-style

no car allowed freshman year. anyway, you don't really need it, seeing as New Haven is a city and there are Yale shuttles everywhere... I'm not sure about the availability of the shuttles though...

Cars are allowed freshman year, or at least, my roommate has one. Food is all you can eat buffet style, unless you eat at the Law School or the business school where you are given a certain amount of money (about $8) to buy a la carte food.
