Thank you so much, everyone! I have finally received my Eli Account information! I can breathe now.
I’m not an international applicant, so it seemed strange to me that I hadn’t received one.
got it
Do Indians receive interviews in a good amount or only the ones who seem capable to them are offered interviews?
Please tell
@vanshmurad They offer as many interviews as the possibly can - it isnot based on your potential for acceptance to the school. Interviews depend upon where you live in india (if alumni live in your city/area), and on alumni availability. Getting/not getting an interview does not correlate with acceptance or rejection from yale.
Has anybody received alumni interview notice yet?
@ParentOfUtahBoy Yes many people have. I’ve conducted a few already. But that has no relationship to your situation. You may still get one. You might not whatsover. I know in my area, Yale is hoping for 2/3rds coverage. That’s just how it is. Too many applicants, not enough interviewers.
I received an alumni interview notice.
Thank you @T26E4 for the info. How do they choose interviewees? Based on admission likelihood or purely random? We are in N Cal high tech area.
They choose interviewees based on the amount of alumni or the surrounding alumni near the applicant. It does not put you at a disadvantage if you are not offered an interview
Thank you @stahboy. When did you receive the notice and which area? Now I know whether or not getting an interview is not related to the admission decision but my son happens to be good at interviews.
I received my notice on Jan. 5th and I am in Colorado.
@ParentofUtahBoy: they are assigned to the area directors without a pre-read – thus when they first hit the local person in charge of sending them out – likely no human eyes have looked at the applicant’s electronic folder other than to see that it’s complete. The zero-chancer as well as the shoo-in are unidentified at this point.
I can tell you some who’ve been assigned to me – I WISH had been pre-read b/c they had a snowball’s chance… at least based upon my interaction with them. Most others are simply wonderful.
Directors will likely assign first in, first out. Thus I would imagine that a kid who applies much earlier than Jan 1 has a better chance of getting an interview. Also if that kid lives in proximity to volunteer interviewers, it’s another plus. If the kid lives in an outlying area, he/she MIGHT get a Skype interview offer. It all depends on the resources of the local area. Right now, about 5% of alumni are active in interviewing/recruiting. Applicants’ doubling over the last ten years has pushed beyond the ability of the local groups to interview. A goal of +90% was considered GOOD. Now, Yale would love 67%.
Hey guys I rarely posted but I really hope to get some comments on this - I applied to Yale. My stats are okay except my SAT lit is 700. I have good SATs and SAT subject tests except for this one. (My other two are 800s). Do I have a chance?
@luv2sk8 Yale will look for more than your test scores. So you have a chance if your essays and EC’s impress them.
I know of two people who have already received likely calls from their area admission reps.
I got one yesterday! dying.
Thank you again, @T26E4! Now I know that interview opportunities are not related to chance. I am relieved although my son is good at interviews.
@thisisascreename, congrats if you mean likely call. When did you submit application? Stats?
With only 1 post under the belt of @thisisascreename, I would take a big grain of salt on what he/she says.
@co4usc2016 I realize that i don’t have much credibility but I am a fairly regular poster. I just created a new username to be cautious because my real name is in my other one and i didnt want to risk losing it because of any yale admissions officers that may be on this thread. I know its paranoid but i am not losing this! lol
It seems like likely calls are going out to questbridge applicants. My friend is in questbridge and knows some people who weren’t matched that received the likely call!
