I have been accepted to Yale EA, and last semester my transcript had two B’s in STEM-related courses. I am usually a straight A student but had so much going on last semester that my grades dropped. I didn’t think it would be too big of a deal, but my admissions officer emailed me with an “encouragement to keep working hard.” It wasn’t exactly a warning letter, just one that described how he wanted me to keep similar grades that I applied with. I explained that some family stuff had been going on, so he was super understanding but now I am getting worried because for semester 2 I may receive a C. The rest of my grades would be A’s, but for AP Stats I am not doing too well. It will not drop below a C, but even with a C, is there a chance of my admission being rescinded?
Also, I am NOT a stem person whatsoever. A big part of my application was my passion for humanities, which is what I believe a large component as to how I got in. I say this to have you consider that I hope to never take Stats in college.
No.
That said, strive for a B. Because if you aim for a C, you can wind up with a D, which will be a problem.
I would also encourage you to look into tutoring and/or online resources to help fill in any knowledge gaps. You’re obviously brilliant, so you may not be used to getting help. Learning to self-advocate is a great skill, so talk to your teacher, counselor, math club friend…whoever is wiling to help!
Thread topic is: “Yale rescinding my application.”
To the best of my knowledge, “applications” never get rescinded, but “acceptances” may be rescinded for a severe downturn in grades or wrongful behavior resulting in discipline.
Also, the thread title is highly misleading, implying as it does that Yale HAS rescinded an actual acceptance, which, upon reading the OP, is obviously not true. “Will Yale Rescind…?” would have been accurate.
