I only submitted my ds’s FASFA and didn’t send any other forms. Is it a bad sign that Yale never reached out?
Guys forget it. If they needed additional documented, they would have contacted us. If not, a good assumption would be - all is good. All we can do now is wait! Painful as it may be …!
Let’s post an update after the release.
is everything on the financial aid section of the portal checked?
No, they are all marked as x’s except FASFA. If it makes a difference, we would not qualify for any financial aid anyways, so hopefully Yale took one look and knew there was no point asking for more information.
I also received an SID from the financial aid office. By any chance did it begin with a 90 or 91? A few years ago, this was reported to be the case.
what did yours begin with?
I’m curious—exactly what forms did Yale ask for in their email? I’ve already submitted the required ones (like W-2, 1040, etc.) so I’m wondering what else there might be to submit.
Mine began with 92, how about yourself?
While I don’t think there’s much merit reading into it: Yale did not ask for any forms in their email. They just emailed a general message about some financial aid docs missing and working with your family to get them submitted soon.
Hope that helps!
You also received an SID?
Mhm! Number started with a 92 as well. But… as mentioned in my previous message, I don’t think we can read much into it until we have final confirmation. Good luck!
Oh ok! Thank you, i’m was just trying to figure out if it means anything haha
9 digit number beginning with a 9
Ah thank you! I just saw other forums from 2019 that reported it began with 91 and 90. Maybe they changed it in years since?
Thanks! If I understand correctly, did they just email asking for you to turn in the docs (tax forms) that you hadn’t submitted yet?
Here’s a snippet of the email below:
As of today, we have not received all the documents necessary to complete your financial aid application and we encourage you to work with your family to submit required materials soon.
You may review application requirements via your financial aid checklist available in your Yale admission portal. To submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the CSS Profile, please follow the link on your checklist.
PLEASE NOTE: Individual documents should be securely submitted at idoc.collegeboard.org.
… and they made a note about my Yale ID at the bottom. So pretty procedural and basic stuff!
So according to this article it seems that all prospective students are assigned an SID?
"Whereas the 9-digit SID number beginning with “9” is assigned to all prospective students during the admissions process, the 8-digit UPI begins with “1” and is only assigned to all matriculated students, faculty, and staff, Long said. "
Wow… did I mess up?
In my additional information section, I mentioned how two of my courses in the second semester of senior year aren’t on my transcript since they are DE. I said “they were taken”…
Please tell me if they would notice it was clearly a typo. Ugh.
as a yale student, I can confirm that the “Yale Application ID” that I received literally 1 second after submitting my application (as in before ANYONE looked at my application) is what turned into “Student ID” (SID) for me after matriculation. Therefore, while I can’t say for sure since I’m not in admission, I do NOT think that having sent a SID by financial aid office means anything. It’s probably just a number that yale uses to identify applicants, and after matriculation, students.
