The only thing is that the format of the two numbers is completely different.
I think they probably willâsince they are supposed to read everything very carefully, but it wouldnât affect the outcome of your application (be it positive or negative). Really. They are not looking for a perfectly written application. They are more interested in who you really are. So I wouldnât worry about it at all if I were you. Good luck!
They will not notice or if they did, wouldnât care- itâs very minor.
So on my FA checklist its saying âparents international business supplementâ is missing which appeared 1 day ago⊠does this mean anything positive?
There are no tea leaves to be read
It a document is missing, I wouldnât say itâs particularly positive.
It wonât affect the admission decision though.
I definitely agree. Itâs scary, but if Iâm not going to get in Iâd rather just know now and refocus my energy.
Waiting is never easy. I guess they just have to follow the process so that all Ivies announce results at the same time!
Good luck to every one!
Ivy day is for RD. The REA/SCEA/ED releases come out around the same week, but are not coordinated to an exact date and time.
I c. Interesting. Thanks!
Although some years, like last year, they are at the same time in the early round. But it doesnât happen every year.
Yes, they are - release date is Dec 15, 5pm ESTâŠ
7 pm for those that have announced
7pm for Regular Decision, 5pm Dec 15 for REA:
An admissions decision will be posted to this Admissions Status Portal on the date specified below:
- Early Action: December 15, 2022 at 5:00pm (Eastern)
Yes but Penn and some of the others are 7 pm, so not the same
Iâm sorry - I thought we were talking about Yale. I copied and pasted what is on the Admissions Portal, that an update will be posted at 5pm EST on Dec. 15. I donât know what other schools are doing.
This made it seem like you were commenting on all ivies
Yes, sorry, I tried to clarify my comment but for some reason moderator changed it back. I thought someone was asking what time Yaleâs decision was being released.
My son is a freshman at Yale (but took a Gap year last year to let Covid restrictions on campus pass) so remember clearly the angst of Dec 2020 (he graduated June, 2021). Offering some insights AND Hope while you wait:
He applied REA and heard at exactly 5 pm (EST) on a Thurs equivalent to this week.
He was not a legacy or recruited athlete â and he slept through!! his 8:30 am Sunday (late Nov) Zoom interview with Alum volunteer (who was VERY annoyed). (Big lesson to me as a mom (and my son) never to schedule early weekend interviews and to set double alarms!)
They rescheduled interview for next day, and he ended up charming her - so anything is possible! But point of this story is that interview clearly didnât matter at all to Admissions Dept overall. So donât sweat whatever happened re: an interview. Been told those are mostly to keep Alum engaged with college so they donate, etc.
He and another boy at his private Denver, CO HS (VERY academic college prep school) were at very top of class (120 seniors) and Yale took both of them. (My son had all As or A plus all 4 years with mostly Honors and AP classes).
His SAT=1530. ACT= 34/35.
Wrote his Common App Essay about âHiccupsâ using a creative technique of actually writing out the hiccups while heâs âtalking to readerâat beginning of essay. Point of Essay was: Heâs always gotten hiccups quite regularly since little kid cos heâs always rushing around while talking fast, and tends to be a very impatient person in general. He wrote how (1) how he learned to get rid of his hiccups; (2) teaching 10-12 year olds sailing; and (3) no EAs during 2020 spring of Covid shutdown so started Political, non-partisan, Tik tok chat/video forum with other kids all taught him how to become a more patient person. It was a 10 Essay!
Again, Neither of these boys a legacy or recruited athlete. And there seem to be a bunch of recruited athletes on campus!
But my son did play 2 varsity sports âpretty wellâ and was a competitive sailor his entire youth and then became a sailing instructor. He was also in all the school musicals, and youngest elected Sec Gen of MUN. He worked 2 summer jobs from 15-19, and worked at HS bank during the year.
His MANY extra- curriculars, with leadership positions, and glowing Teacher Recs were the key really - not the grades. We call him the Renaissance Man - he loves to do a little bit of everything, and heâs generally âpretty goodâ at those things - but def not the best. So heâs not âdeepâ into any one thing, but always trying new things and craves lots of variety. He also tends to rise to leadership in these activities.
My son was then wait-listed by Harvard RD, rejected Stanford RD, and accepted Georgetown Foreign Service EA and UNC Chapel Hill EA.
Yale was always his first choice and he applied RD to Stanford and Harvard to see what would happen. (Harvard took no one from his H school that year and Stanford took 2 students- 1 legacy (wealthy & white) and 1 First Gen (great candidate boy -Hispanic). (Neither my son or the other boy were first Gen, but other boy is a person of color, but high income and very involved parents. He was excellent candidate so not sure his race was factor at all).
Both my son and classmate accepted Yale, and both love. Other is a sophomore. Both super active on campus â Itâs def not a place to sit in your Dorm or be introverted. Everyone seems very busy with clubs and parties, extremely social, and just being out and about. Students seem to be loyal and supportive - attending concerts and plays of their friends. But not football games!! (Except âThe Game.â) There is a real social, friendly, and very artsy vibe on campus. Improv and Accapella groups are huge!
My older 2 sons both got rejected from Yale early. They were very similar candidates, but not nearly the scope of all the EAs of youngest sons. But all 3 had same exact SAT/ACT scores.
Eldest son had all As,all 4 years too, and was in top 20 of his class, but went to big public HS (650 seniors). This son was Big into theater and debate but no sports. Middle son had handful of B pluses , very social, but mostly As of honors and lots of APs at same big public HS. He was committed (and talented) Rugby player, on student council, and Editor-in-Chief of big HS (and award winning) Newspaper (he now works for CBS News in NYC after grad Northwesternâs Medill sch of Journalism).
Both these other 2 sons got rejected EA (after getting deferred) (They grad HS 2011 and 2015). They both ended up having great experiences at Northwestern- (diff majors and diff schools).
So moral is you usually end up where you Supp to go! And youâll have an awesome time no matter where you go! Just stay busy!
I will say there seem to be a bunch of siblings at Yaleâ regardless of parents legacy. And lots of NYCers and New Haven kids, and both wealthy and struggling financially type kids. (Yale Professorsâ kids go and get discount I believe). My son is already good friends w 2 such kids.
He lives with 3 recruited athletes (2 swimmers and 1 crew - all Div 1) and one concert cello player in 2 suites of 8 boys on top floor of very cool tower dorm. And all seem like genuinely nice (and social/ charming) guys. They are from Seattle, Cleveland, Salt Lake, Detroit and New Haven.
All his suitemates seem VERY active (train for their sports at 6/7 am each morn before classes, etc) and Very passionate about their sports and activities.
That seems to be what Yale wants - students who love being VERY busy at something they are passionate about.
Good luck everyone but just know youâll end up where you are Supp to end up! And if not you can always transfer. Our neighbors son transferred into Yale from CU Boulder after taking Gap year (after his freshman year) working in DC on Hill one semester and then attending college in Spain spring semester during âSophâ year. Yale took him and made him repeat a year but he Loved! Now applying to law school. So there are lots of ways to get into Yale.
