So has anyone received a SID already? I know that it’s probably not indicative, but I am curious
What is a SID?
SID= Student Identification Number
No, would you see it in the portal?
Does it mean anything if I applied EA and didn’t get an interview? I’m from a more rural area and there’s only a Yale club for my entire region covering multiple states but I really don’t know what it would mean if I didn’t get an interview?
Some students get an email from the financial aid office with their SID asking them to submit the missing documents. There’s a theory that this ID is assigned only to likely admits. As far as I can tell, most cases are indeed acceptances
You mean the Yale ID?? I got that when they asked to submit documents it might have been for communication purposes.
I think so as well. But there was this whole thing with people saying (and kind of confirming on the 2023 thread) that receiving SID correlates somehow with acceptance, because it is apparently reserved for admitted students
Wait so is the Yale ID the student ID? They asked me to submit financial information that I didn’t submit from idoc and css
The most I can stretch it is that the AO indicates the candidates of interest to the FO who assigns those numbers. So it’s not a guarantee either way
Yes, It is. It should say so in the end of their letter
It clarifies what this number is in the next to the last paragraph
Ok. I gotta get my hopes down hearing this lol. Does this mean there’s emails being sent just like this requesting documents but not giving you a Yale ID?
You absolutely should. If anything, it makes me more anxious. And we know of at least one denial after receiving this ID.
As to the letters, I am not sure. Apparently, there are several ways that they can request you the documents (directly through IDOC, for instance). Some people won’t even get a letter from the financial aid office (presumably due to a mistake…?). So it’s all very murky. But I just love mysteries
I got this email too with a Yale SID on top. I stalked some Reddit threads and there might be a correlation, but I’m gonna keep my hopes down and go with a routine fin aid request that means little. It’s not worth the anxiety.
Did you not complete some of your fin aid docs?
They said parent tax returns were incomplete.
All applicants from Yale get a 9-digit Yale record ID (as seen on your application receipt confirmation email) and I am sure it matches the number assigned to your financial aid account.
Yeah, it’s an application ID in your portal. And SID (which starts with a number 9 and is assigned to the actual Yale students) is different. It’s specifically pointed out in the letter from FA
