andra - I'm not upandrover but there isn't a lowest score at Yale or anywhere else for that matter. But, your chances will be better is you get a high score.

ok! Thanks alot ria :)

vanillaice, which city in china are you from?

vanillaice... wow, so glad to meet a fellow scholar in singapore in college confidential. what sec school r u in now? i'm from rjc and was from ri (i'm indeed proud to be a rafflesian, heh.) wait, i dun get it. u juz completed sec4 and u've taken sat already? 790 for verbal? what? i'll never get that kind of score in my life... i've only taken once, it was only 720. pretty happy with it tho...

to zhuyiron: im from chongqing but i've been studying in singapore for two years now. how come ur applying for uni directly from china? that's quite rare as far as i know...anyway i think it's best dat u really REALLY work on ur english, they put a lot of emphasis on dat..
hi eldj something, im from cedar girls. i know it's not really normal for me to do dis but i thought i just push myself a bit. besides i've stayed in the states before so i thought it'd be nice if i can go there earlier...i mean we're already like a year behind here, rite? oh im also applying for rjc arts stream! another strange thing to do i know i know, a prc scholar after all...but i really despise science, n after getting 790 for my verbal, i think i can do it!! heehee... oh where r u from by da way?

Thanks astrix and hello... but my best m ath score is 710 and verbal 630... i still dont have a chance....did u use common app or the princeton application for your ED?

I'm using the princeton app

And hey, SATs are not the be all and end all

Wow vanillaice, e1 was just telling me about you (he's my roommate, heh) and your excellent SAT scores... and you're only in sec 4?! I expect you'll be racking up 800s in every section (including the SAT 2s) by next year! Hope you do come to RJ and be our junior, though we'll have left by then. =)

By the way, e1, the thread I just told you about is "what country are you from"? Go check it out and put your name there... I don't think Indonesia's represented there yet! =)

wmgan, actually im applying to us unis dis yr...a bit early i know but i think i can do it. oh n i didn't take SAT2...thought it would a little bit too much wat with my o levels n all. just finished phy prac, wasn't as hard as chem prac thank god. hey so nice to find seniors here!! heehee....

I just finished physics prac too, yesterday - chem's on Thursday - physics was easy but I really hope chem won't be too much of a killer!

Chemistry is not that hard! I really think is easier than Physics. What do you guys find difficult in Chemistry. I think that speacially the Organic is easy. I can't say the same about Physics unfortuately. T_T

Chemistry is terribly difficult! I'd like to take Biology E.

Bilogy E? I thought about that as well...but don't you think it's too much information? I mean, I don't like to learn things by heart. Do you? So, what other SAT II subjects have you chosen? I'm not sure yet but I think I'll take math II c, chemistry and literature (or biology...:))

My SAT II are Biology E, Math IIc and Writing. Really the format of chemistry and physics are overcompex, I don't think Biology is too informative, butrequire some understanding of the subject.

hi, another intnl hails from china.
Any one applying to Swarthmore?
What SAT I/II/TOEFL/AP scores does a Swattie need?
And I love the CC Intnl Section as well! Hurray!

SAT II to me:

Writing, ugh, hardest
Chemistry, moderately hard
Biology E, high percentile w/ mediocre score,
Physics, high score w/ low percentile
II C, cheesy

I think it's probably a lot easier to score high on Physics than Chemistry because the pool of the Physics test takers tend to have taken AP Phy B or C and thus pushes the scoring curve up (just like it's easier to score higher on II C than I C)

hi penumbra...which part of china r u from?? hey ur english is v fluent!! as in, well chinese living in china usually speak broken english, NO OFFENSE...just my observation.

I suggest Writing, Math2C, Chem.
Physics is not bad but I think you need to study more stuff, in addition to your school's Physics. Chem is more general and I suppose not much additional studying is required. For Singapore students: just study the boiling point elevation and molality for chem. That shd be enough to get you 800 for SAT2 Chem! A-Level Chem is much harder than SAT2.

vanillaice, I am from mainland China. Although the majority of the 1.6 billion chinese people do not speak English fluently, there're also plenty who got 1600 in SAT. :-) ....not me..... BTW, a lot of people in chinatown usually are not sutdents and thus do speak 'broken' English if these were the people you saw.

A level Physics/ Chemistry = AP Physics/ Chemistry
You have a good shot in both if you are only taking SAT II....
