hey upandover. Whutz up? Anyway, i hope u're having a blast in Yale!... hey, do you guyz know how much emphasis is placed on the verbal section of the SATs?

hi all,
I am an Indian applying to Princeton ED.
I got 1510 in Sat 1-770 VB and 740 Math
I got 95% in may class 10th but now i have dropped to 84%
Is there any chance for me?
BTw,Astrix,where do you study?

Hey Akash, you have excellent stats and I think a great chance. I'm applying Princeton ED too but my marks are nowehere close to yours!!

Thanks astrix, i should start working on the essays i think...or i will be just left no where...i will know in a week where i stand....I usually had so many errors in error identification that i felt it wasnt for a person like me...i used to care far less about shortcomings...wish this habit only remained for people :) its only a matter of a week. i will know where i stand....

Hello Laila, I am providing you with a link of the top Economics departments in the US according to the last US News and World Report ranking of Economics departments (2001). Obviously, those departments do not change quickly, so the quality of those departments has not changed much in the last 3 years.

Those are graduate programs, so LACs and Dartmouth, which have excellent undergraduate Econ departments, are not going to make it on this list since they do not offer graduate programs in Economics.

However, the top graduate programs also have top undergraduate programs, so the rankings of the graduate programs are pretty much a reflection of the rankings of the undergraduate programs.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have problems accessing the site (it may ask for my email/password...you know my email and you can call me for my password) and do not hesitate to email me or call me if you should have any questions.

All the best.

Alex

spkelly,

Verbal... well.... I would say that colleges are not very fond of high math and low verbal SATs.... so by all means, try to get higher. Unless you are talking bout MIT/Caltech... if you are science genius (won intl math olympiads, invented some very useful device) you'll get in even though you got SAT Verbal 400.

hi cooldude!

btw its hello not cooldude anymore ;)

Can someone help me out!! heres the prob
I got a SAT I Score of 800M 600V
SAT II Math IIC 800, Physics 800
I gave writing this oct and i think i screwed up, heres the essay,
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=793
I'm guessing around 10 MC's wrong so I'll most probably get a 600 or 650 max.
Plus i've also registered for the SAT I in Nov, now i'm thinking which one should i retake for Stanford/Harvard EA (still deciding).
Should i improve the Verbal or Writing??
and 1 more prob, i have to call CB by wed if i want to change my nov test to SAT II, but i'll get my writing scores only on friday!!
So WRITING OR VERBAL!?!? Help me chose plz

I root for verbal!!

But it really depends on what you feel you can register a greater increase in.

I'd say verbal. Hopefully your essays will be so great they forget all about your writing score! And a 650 is not so bad, especially for an international student.

I know we really care our national math awards, do the adcoms care US math olympiad? or it should be an international? it is said they are looking for leaders instead of genius.

Root for verbal too....Yeah, upandover. hopefully i'll get good scores for the writing SAt 2...But anyway, i'll be retaking sat 1 in nov...:)

thx!

Upandover... rocking Yale ehh?!?!
Visiting dear CC after so long... and its nice to see a few familiar faces :p
And yea... I so totally hate the number of posts beside my name. NO FAIR!! throws a tantrum

Median (middle 50%) test scores of recently admitted international students
SAT 1 Verbal 610-710
SAT 1 Math 710-800

If your ECs aren't very strong, your verbal should be at least in this range for schools like Harvard/Yale which are obviously harder to get in than Northwestern.

Cant believe...i finally got a 700 in writing...
and thankfully a 790 in Physics, and 800 in 2c,

Hope you guys did well too!

That's great, cres! Congrats :)

yeah nice work. My scores will come out in a weeks time, I'm confused!! should take a Dec date for Writing (I doubt i'll get a 700)

Hey. i got 740M/720V but i want to resit it in dec. to bring up the maths score. if i get around 700-800 in my SAT IIs and have excellent home school record, extracurricluar, teachers evaluations, etc, then do i have a chance of getting into a school in the ivy league? (hopefully Harvard/Yale)

hey ppl....gosh dis is so exciting, a section just for internationals!! heehee...im from china, currently studying singapore on scholarship. i thought i saw one or two like me, except i think one's malaysian n one's indonesian. asean scholars rite? well im a prc scholar. wat jc r u guyz in? haha actually im just completing my sec four and applying to rjc...
