yeahhh just got that full BK scholarship

Be on the lookout people, results are coming way earlier than expectedddd

if you don’t mind, where are you located (in state?) nothing in NYC today

yes I’m in-state. The certificate and letter were signed and sent yesterday, March 15th

@NOL, welcome to the club. Will you also be getting the MDS on top of it?

BTW, March 15th is actually 3 days later than last year.

MDS? Maryland Distinguished Scholar? If so, then no. Also, reason why I say it’s early is because at the reception they said expect results around April 1st.

Is there any way for partial B/K to become full B/K (like if not enough people matriculate)?

I don’t think so, iceberg. They know that many of the full B/K recipients will end up going to an Ivy League school or any number of other choices and they take that into consideration when they make their offers. I

full bk!
this makes my decision a LOT harder.

Congrats to all who got the full (or even partial). I remember two years ago, the letter came while I was at school and I told my mom not to open it. Five minutes later I get a text saying I got full (but she said she wouldn’t have texted me if I got partial)
Later that night I got accepted to my dream school since I was about 13. (JHU). The next day I got their aid package…The day after that I became a Terp and I’ve never regretted my decision.

Not to derail, but I love the OP’s name. We’re from NOLA. Actually, though, my son is in love with the DC area, and wants to vacation there again this year. I am really hoping he’ll consider UMCP for grad school. He’s interested in biomedical engineering. Currently majoring in mechanical engineering at Bama.

ginab591…It really is funny how everything works out. CAL and Duke were the schools I really wanted to go to. Applied to UMD because my mom got her PhD there and thought it was a great school. Now after time, financial aid packets, talking to people, figuring out where I would fit it best…UMD has moved to the top of my list.

My mom and I laugh about how things changed from a year ago, six month ago and now

UMD has moved up the list for me too. I applied to some Ivy League schools, but Maryland still seems to be near the top of my list because of Banneker/Key.

Incidentally, does anyone know what the dollar amount (per year) is for accepting outside scholarship money with a full B/K scholarship?

@cyborg, … I have a $3,000/year outside scholarship and last I checked about another 500/year will fit under COA. Whatever doesn’t get used up with fees that the B/K doesn’t cover, they refund to you via a check.
