So im a new freshman, and I just started school. However, because of health reasons, my parents and I are thinking about quitting this year and re-enrolling next year instead.

If I take a year off, will I automatically be re-admitted, or will I need to apply again?

Also, if I do a one-term absence, will that put me in a position where I have to graduate in five years?

Definitely talk to Murphy Hall. I know that you can't avoid your first quarter or defer it to possibly winter quarter. You can, however, finish off the quarter and then return after declaring non-attendance for whatever terms. I don't know how this would work with your already enrolling and then withdrawing.

As for graduating in five years - I doubt it. It's up to you to schedule your graduation and units per quarter. If anything, there is always summer sessions to pick up the slack.

If you withdraw from the quarter, you won't be registered and technically you were never a UCLA student since you never completed a single quarter of attendance. Talk to an academic counselor at Murphy Hall and explain the situation. You might think about being a part-time student for this quarter to ease the academic burden and focus more on the health problems.

You are suppose to at least complete 1 quarter and then u could easily be re-admitted. Um, if not, then just quit, go to a community college, and transfer back. I mean, its not a big deal, and you might even get into a better school than ucla (like berkeley ;) )
