Yes, No, Maybes?

MTMama, did your S/d get accepted to UMisch?

MTMama, did your S/d get accepted to UMisch?

No - no word yet. I do have an older D in the MT program at UM - but my younger one is still waiting to hear…

MTMama, wishing you and your daughter good news soon!! Keeping you in my thoughts!

Good Luck!

I know there are 2 acceptances at Michigan

Does anyone know what day of the week or time of day decisions are typically released? The waiting is awful…
Also, if you are deferred, there is no email notification, correct?
I auditioned on the Jan 14 date and still haven’t heard anything at all…not on WA or email

Collegesearch26…remember that Michigan’s last audition date is March 11, they will not fill the class till they have seen everyone. After March 11, more notifications will go out. The year my daughter auditioned we received the acceptance email on a Monday morning a week after her audition, but I have no idea what day if there is one that they normally go out…I just remember because it was so exciting! Good luck…it won’t be too long now!!

collegesearch26…my d has been deferred since the first audition in November…and nothing has changed in WA. She did receive an email with notice of her deferral, but maybe those only went out to the early auditionees, as they told them they would hear SOMETHING before the end of the year…also, check your spam folders…some of her stuff from Mich got zapped there (and we never did receive one email…kinda scary…)

Found non-acceptance (doesn’t that sound better than “rejection”?) on WA just now :(

oh no, so sad

Heard of two more acceptances!! Congratulations!!

More than a little surious what it means when MOMMAMT says “heard of”. Do the accepted individuals themselves know yet? Are these acceptances showing up on UMICH WA even before the child gets an email or snail mail? And BTW, so how many acceptances of each of boys and girls does that make at this point?

I think it means that these kids have gotten calls - not sure where the info is coming from - current students, maybe someone who works in the admissions office? I guess those “congratulations” wishes are being sent to those who have been accepted - and, while I am happy for those kids, I am a bit nervous hearing about the spots that are being filled up…!!

MTPOPS:

We know about two kids definitely getting calls because one (a boy) was in a summer program with my D, and they are in touch and the other (a girl) auditioned the same week-end as my daughter, they met there and have some mutual friends…so generally the way the news comes out is that someone is somehow connected to those getting the acceptances and passes it along. I have no idea how may are accepted so far, we only know of those 2.
The waiting for the rest of us is certainly not easy!!

i do know there have been rejections, but i haven’t heard of any deferrals yet, except for the kids who auditioned in the very first group in November.

Reading this thread certainly brings back recent memories, as we were there a year ago. I do know Michigan has begun formally accepting students for the class of 2015, it appears that so far there are no more than 4-5. There is still one more audition coming up in March and they will not fill all the spots until all auditions are over.

I know from past conversations with the dept. they take great care in selecting the freshmen class so do not be discouraged if you have not heard anything. My daughters acceptance came in April 28th with a phone call. Granted she was deferred, then wait listed. But understand that there is always a chance and it all works out for the best.

Her freshmen class is made up of 10 girls and 12 boys.

I certainly did not mean to upset or worry anyone regarding news of acceptances. To answer MTPOPS question, the accepted students seem to find their way through whatever means, to introduce themselves to current students. I heard last night from my daughter about these two, I am aware of four so far, but no other info. As has been stated many times, Umich will not fill their slots till all auditions have been completed, so no one should despair. All it means is the process has begun and the waiting time will be less.
Best wishes to everyone that is waiting for news, that it will be swift in coming and be the answer they are hoping for! :)

I can imagine how stressful it is for those left without an acceptance, deferral or rejection yet, when you know some have been sent out. It is great, though, that they genuinely hold open slots for those last audition dates, since I know from scheduling D’s (subsequently canceled) auditions that some folks have no choice but to use those final slots.

For any who have gotten rejections, I think D heard when she was there last summer that Sutton Foster got a UMich rejection slip, and she’s done ok for herself. ;-D

Our fingers are crossed for those of you still waiting to hear from this fantastic program!

Accepted students are posting their acceptance news on their own facebook pages. The information will travel far and fast via this mode… 6 degrees of separation… have seen one of them and I’m not even FB friends with her!
