Yes, No, Maybes?

Our fingers and toes are crossed for all of your talented kids!!

Not sure this info is of any use, but when D’s friend got in last year he was informed via a phone call.

MomCares is correct about phone calls, but they also do emails…or a combination of both! Best of luck to everyone!

We were deferred too.

I’m probably being a naive pollyanna here. but I’m taking hope from the fact that no one seems to be hearing about additional acceptances on here. I’ve heard from our college coach that UMich (and most other schools) had a huge increase in the number of auditioners, so maybe they are taking a different tack this year and now deferring everyone they’re considering until the final audition date, except for a couple of truly exceptional cases. This coach has deferred and turned-down students (and knows of many more through her contacts) but doesn’t know of any new acceptances. Doesn’t mean that those who haven’t heard anything aren’t deferred yet, but given the intensity of this situation and the vast network I’ve witnessed out there, I think we would know if new acceptances had been given out after that first handful. Like I said, it may sound pitiful but that’s what we’re holding onto right now. It could be that many of those who haven’t heard a thing are actually about to get an acceptance, but the wording of the email really seems to indicate that they want to compare “everyone” competitively to come up with the best class.

Isn’t it amazing how much drama is involved in getting into a drama program? And it doesn’t help that my daughter and I have been accused of being drama queens even without all this pressure. LOL

My friend at Mich said that they have only been notifying auditionees from the Michigan auditions, but has anyone heard from the Chicago auditions? I auditioned on Feb. 8th, but I’m already sweating bullets over here!

A boy from my sons studio was accepted a few days ago.
Very exciting news! Good luck to everyone.

Not sure if this is correct, but D spent last evening with a friend from UMich, and she thinks around 7 people have been admitted now. Apparently they have a FB group and are introducing themselves.

Good luck everyone!!

Well from what I can tell from Facebook, the University of Michigan: Musical Theatre Class of 2015 group ([Login | Facebook](<a href=“University of Michigan: Musical Theatre Class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook”>University of Michigan: Musical Theatre Class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook)) has 29 members and all but a very few are students currently going to UMich, so I think it may be premature to stress out and worry about whether anyone’s odds have been greatly reduced as of yet.

agreed @MTPOPS. The new Mich MT facebook page only seems to have 4-5 high school students and lots of existing UMich MT students. I truly believe anyone who auditioned from February on is not going to get a firm yes or no until all the auditions are over in the next week or so. My son is in deferral status at UMich like many on here. It was sure nice to get a CCM MT acceptance today though. Still hoping for good news from UMich but its such a relief to have good news from a top school. Congrats to yours as well!

This is going to sound a lot like a recent CCM thread, but is a “deferred status” a requirement at this point?

Congrats to CalDad 3 and everyone else with good news !!!

No - it’s not. It was mentioned up above that many students at UM were not deferred first before being accepted. I will try to get some numbers from my D who is a current student there. But, as another poster said above, maybe they are doing things a bit differently this year…

classicalbk:

I sure hope not. But i have absolutely no idea. I don’t think anybody does!

What i can comment on is this! Some of those unbelievably talented kids who got into CCM MT yesterday have not gotten deferrals, nor have they been denied. My D is not in that category as she didn’t audition for CCM MT. But she has not heard anything from UMICH either. I also know that when the last batch of deferrals came out earlier in the week, there were also rejections sent as well. In my D MPulse circle, there are many who have heard nothing, and a few who have been deferred (mostly boys, and at least 1 girl). I certainly don’ think having done MPULSE would give kids any advantage at this point, i am just using that group because the kids tend to be highly talented and because its the only “group” i know about.

My own guess is that they are handling the applications in batches and those kids who haven’t heard, just haven’t been decided on yet. Could be bad news, could be AWESOME news.

My older D, who is a senior MT, thinks that there were two or three kids in her class who were first deferred before being accepted. Two others were accepted off the waitlist. She is going to try to confirm those numbers - but that is a ballpark figure…

That was four years ago and things may have changed since then - so this scoop is just FYI…

Take a peak on Wolverine Access. We found out that it was a no go online last week…but haven’t seen anything on paper

In my daughters freshman class 3 were accepted off of waitlist.

bwaymom21 - What about deferrals in your D’s class? Do you know how many kids had a deferral prior to their acceptance? Being on the waitlist is kind of a different situation - which comes later. I suppose you could be deferred - and then waitlisted?

In my daughter’s case she was deferred first. I don’t know about others but once this March 11th audition is over final decisions will be made. Hang in there, I know the waiting is hard. :)

I am new to college confidential. I applied for the BFA in Acting major in February and haven’t heard back. Are musical theater students notified around the same time as acting students? Have acting students been notified of anything? Much appreciated.
