Hi....................my son was accepted at both Clemson and SC. WE visited both last week, and liked them both, although I did prefer Clemson Campus.

As far as money goes, son was offered $7500.00 per year at Clemson, and SC offered him instate tuition plus $2000.00 per year.

Both were very generous with him.

So, what I am asking is he will be a Biochem major, the difference in tuition to attend Clemson would be over $10,000.00 per year more than SC.

I guess the question to ask is will spending $40,000 more get him more money in a job.

I had a similar dilemma - I was accepted to UGA and it was my first choice. But since I was out of state (I’m a SC resident) I didn’t feel like paying the extra money was going to help me any career wise.

Clemson is definitely science/tech oriented but USC has good science programs as well.

Interesting, my daughter got into both, and got the same package to both. I calculate the cost difference as over $12,000 per year. Plus the yearly increases at SC should be smaller since it is in-state tuition.

My question is - will Clemson adjust their award based on what somewhat got from SC?

I’m a student from Florida, and would receive 3,200 dollars a year to go to UF. I got the instate + 2 grand a year from USC (USC will be more expensive for me) and i’m choosing to go to South Carolina. Did your son get into the capstone scholar’s program? It sounds like a great program at USC.

you get in-state tuition + $3,200 to go to UF? If so, I’d definitely go to Florida. Between Florida and South Carolina there is no academic comparison. Florida is the better school and it is cheaper so there is no question where you should go

I’m going to be doing International business (which USC is ranked #1 for) and i’ll be in the capstone program (special classes, nicest dorm on campus w/ community of scholars, special research opportunities etc…) and I REALLY want to get out of the state of Florida for awhile. We literally had no winter this year, it hit 90 degrees 15 times in January. UF is great, i just think I belong at South Carolina.
