i know that fewer tufts students applied this year but the acceptance rate was lower. why is this? do the adcoms expect the yield rate to go higher? what if the yield rate was 3% lower for example. what would this mean for waitlisted students? (yes i got waitlisted)

As far as I know, this year was a record-breaking year for Tufts applications (their largest amount of applications ever). I might be mistaken, but I believe that’s why the acceptance rate was low.

Nope, it was a decrease, but only by about 800 applications. This might seem like a lot, but in a field of more than 16,000, it’s less statistically significant. Again, the acceptance rate is probably less than a percent lower. Don’t worry too much about the statistics - admissions obviously loved you but there are just too many applicants and not enough spots. This is a really stressful time but just it will all work out in the end. Best of luck with the rest of the process!

this is by far my number one choice. everyone at my school said i fit here so well. assuming i dont get off the waitlist, i will send my deposit to bc. for now though, I am hoping and praying for a miracle. i am the IDEAL JUMBO. I KNOW I AM.

do you guys also think the yield would go down this year because of the fact that more colleges reinstated EA programs?

Generally, the wait list offers take place in May and June, so you should deposit at BC. Send us your wait list form, let us know we’re where you want to go (be explicit), though it’s ok to start getting excited about BC.

Thanks Dan. Also, when taking candidates off the waiting list do you evaluate them in the same manner during normal admissions or is the process different?
