Osu! My name is Alex C. Gonzales, nice to meet ya!

I'm currently a second year Computer Science undergrad at the University of California, Riverside.
The university for all of its bad rap, has an excellent Computer Science program (which is treated as any other Engineering discipline).
However, I am currently looking for other opportunities to broaden my skill-set with the field by looking at schools that offer even better and more renowned CS programs such as the ones offered at Carnegie Mellon and UC Berkeley, although my primary focus is UCB.

So, what are my chances for transferring into such schools?

I have a embarrassingly low unit count of 66 (I didn't take any AP classes during High School, I was such a lazy boy, my school requirements mostly disregard AP tests, anyways . . . ) My current total GPA is 3.85 and my current CS GPA is 4.0. My counselor estimated that I'm in the top 3% of my graduating class.

While I am not doing many extracurricular activities, at least not finding the cure to cancer like most threads on here claim, I'm an active member of my school's ACM chapter and will begin a part time job at the university this quarter, as well as applying to many scholarships and look for internship opportunities for the summer.

If it counts for anything, I plan on taking a few upcoming free online courses on edX this year, including:
CS169.1x: Software as a Service, BerkeleyX (Winter 2013)
CS169.2x: Software as a Service, BerkeleyX (Spring/Summer 2013)
CS188.1x: Artificial Intelligence, BerkeleyX (Spring/Summer 2013)

If I don't have a shot at CMU or UCB, what can I do to improve myself to apply to transfer during Fall next year?

I will "chance back", Thank you and good luck on all of your future academic endeavors!
