This is my problem with sleep. I find listening to something not too interesting helps, particularly someone who talks in a droning voice. Dull droning tv shows work too.
If I want to get back to sleep, I either read the book of Numbers in the Bible or Grant’s Memoirs.
No nasty feet. It’s a king bed and I usually push the covers against H’s side and use a separate light blanket.
My eyes are too tired to read in the middle the night. Things that help me to relax if not actually sleep include directing my brain to think about nice things. I had a trip planned and I would think about what I would pack to wear, day trips I had planned. I will think about good things I like to eat and strategize about how/when to cook them, or restaurants I’d like to get back to soon.
One thing that generally puts me out at bedtime is podcasts. I have a podcast that I love - it’s a British history podcast, it’s not boring to me but the host is Australian, most of her guests are from the UK, if I listen after 9pm - boom! I’m asleep!
Just to show everyone is different… if I started thinking about packing I’d likely be up all night.

My mother reported that I had insomnia age 4. It has been a life long thing with me. Normal sleep time is between 2-3 a.m. Retirement is great because I sleep when I want to sleep. I still take meds to fall asleep but once in I do not wake up. If I do not take meds my “cycle” is to sleep every 36 hours for 12 hours. That doesn’t work in real life. Basically my best time to get things done is after midnight. Back in the day that was when I would wash and wax the kitchen floor. LOL like the 70’s.
