you don't have to take math in college?!

Hold on, is this correct? I don't have to take math?

Everybody needs to fulfill the "Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning" gen ed.

But, can this be fulfilled by what? Astronomy?

I'm going for POL S major, Euro Studies

I think you have to take Calculus. Unless you gained college credit for it in high school.

I did not take calculus in high school, and i do not need to for college. As far as Math proficiency goes, you only have to reach Math 098 which is equivalent to Algebra II, which most people have already reach in high school

You need a QSR, yes. That can indeed be astronomy (That’s what I took to get my QSR).

However, individual majors may require (most do) more math. I had to take statistics for my Sociology major.

Depends on your major.

No, you do NOT need to take calculus. Like the previous posters said, everyone needs a QSR plus some NW (Natural World) credits. However these can be fulfilled by non-math classes if you want, and if your major allows.
