you get this a lot.... but do I stand a chance?

I just went and toured Binghamton on Friday and absolutely fell in love with it I REALLY want to go there now that I've actually seen it. Im going to apply to the Decker School of Nursing, but I hear its super competitive and was wondering if I have a chance... and I have a question or two. But here's my stats:
SAT: 690 on Math 670 on CR (1360/1600)
GPA: 92.94 unweighted
AP US History:5
AP Environmental:5
2 college credits for Latin Lit H
I'm taking AP Studio Art, AP AB Calc, AP Psych, AP Bio, and AP Latin this year along with Brit Lit H
I took all honors classes last year
I have about 350 hrs of community service (70+ at a nursing home, 150 at a day care, a bunch helping mentally challenged kids)
I work partime as of this year
I've done JV swimming, V track, V cross country and am a captain for the team
I've done art club, I'm part of math club and latin club, I've been part of ski club
I've gotten the sportsmanship award
I'm part of the Nation Honors Society
Ahhhhhh..... I've just done a lot of things I mean there could be more but this is just off the top of my head. I'm extremely nervous about applying to college though and this is the school I see myself going to and am desperate to get into. Any tips? Should I take the ACT? I feel like its a little late but my dad keeps pushing me to take it but I'd rather focus on raising my SAT scores and keeping up my GPA. Please let me know what to do! Thanks so much!

If you were applying to Harpur, I would say you have a good chance. I went looking for statistics on Decker’s preferred SAT/GPA but couldn’t find anything.

I hope it all works out for you since you clearly love Binghamton.

What did you like the best (I’m curious XD)?

Ah that’s ok, thanks though!

Well I really love the campus and the surrounding area, and the nature presserve/ running trails is really cool. The campus just feels like its in the middle of this park I run at near my house and I LOVE that! Plus its not like its out in the middle of nowhere, it seems like its somewhat urban and rural at the same time. And the nursing program just seems amazing! For some reason I’m glued to the idea of going here, which may not be a good thing if I don’t get accepted haha…

But should I take the ACT? It conflicts with a lot of stuff I have going on and I’d have to pay the late fee to register now for it. Is it still worth it or should I concentrate on my SAT?

Your SAT is pretty darn good for Binghamton (general admissions anyway). It’s the top score of the range given on the admissions website. There’s no need to take the ACT since it looks like you have a good handle on the SAT.

And that’s one of the things I loved about Binghamton too, that it wasn’t totally suburban or rural or urban but a wacky combination of all three with (what I think anyway) is the best of all of them.

Thanks! Ah thats somewhat of a relief for the SAT… I’m just trying to get by now and keep up my grades and everything this semester is TOUGH!!

Yeah I just loved the differentness of Binghamton, I dont know what it is but I felt something click when I got on campus I so want to go there… Hahaha I want to go there so bad that I’m setting myself up to be prepared for rejection :stuck_out_tongue: and the campus didnt seem extremeley snooty or anything like some of the other schools I’ve visited.

hey all! im in a similar situation - i don’t know if i stand a chance! heres what I have:
97 GPA (weighed)
top 15 percentile of class
28 ACT
550 CR (GRRRR), 650 MATH, 620 Writing
a BUNCH of extra-circulars, school awards, and community service
Great recs/college essay
AP Scholar w/ distinction
I attend a private school very close in proximity to Binghamton University

This might be my top choice so any guidance will be much appreciated!! thanks!

Newyorkballer, your EC’s GPA might carry you in, but the standardized test scores hurt your app. You have a good shot, though!
