the grades with my junior year are my first semester grades, people say that you're junior year is your hardest...I, of course, did not believe them...but I'm improving
those are not all of the classes that i plan to take during my senior year
my school works on an A-day/B-day block schedule so we take all eight classes are year long
I am applying for both the math honor society and the national honor society in the spring

ECs-
varsity tennis (soph, junior, and senior)
technology student association
junior class council
unity club (went on outward bound trip...came back and we started the unity club)
national society of black engineers (co-founder)
hosa-1st place in sports med. competition at regional level...state level is in april
athletic trainer for var. and jv soccer and men's track and var/jv tennis
Mu Alpha Theta- mathematics honor society

You'd make an exceedingly strong candidate, Shinobi; don't let anyone tell you different. But, would you be happy at an LAC (albeit, one with a sterling record in the sciences?) The very fact that you are African-American and MALE makes you a very attractive candidate for even the top LACs where black women typically outnumber black men by significant margins (oh, wait now I see why you might be interested [JW slaps head!]

Yeah... they (Wes) want black guys, badly.
Ummm, as long as you stay in the top 10% of your class and have an SAT over 1250 and decent essays, you're in.

Your gpa is a bit low for Wes but your very high rank shows that your school doesn't give high grades easily and more than makes up for your gpa. You have a very good chance at Wes. Good luck!

Don't give up. You sound like you're on the right track. My family wants me to check out Wesleyan, because other family members have gone there going back to the late 70's and it's considered a very good school. My uncle who is black and a judge now, loved Wes and said it very comfortable for him there, while his brother went to Univ. of Penn and hated it. Admissions seem very quirky and I wouldn't want their job (I'd be cross-eyed) but decent grades, strong class's and good letters can help a lot. Good Luck.
