you vs your high school

Do colleges compare you and your stats to averages from your high school? I’m sure they compare you with other applicants from your school but I don’t know about other classmates

Pardon any spelling errors lol…

Just to make sure your question is if colleges compare your stats with the averages of your school, right?

If so then yes, they definitly do. Colleges want to see how you compare against other kids who have had the same teaching, and quality instruction as you. By comparing you to your school they are able to judge everyone on a equal playing field and not have outside factors such as the quality of the instruction you are recieveing. Comparing you to a state average wouldnt give a true representation of your strengths and weaknesses compared to those who may receive a better education then yours.

Most colleges ask for a school report to be sent with your transcript and that gives the schools info about your school as a whole–average grades, test scores, racial breakdown, free and reduced lunch, number of AP classes offered, etc.

That makes me feel better because the average ACT at my school is a 22 and my current best is 28 and I’m aiming for 31+ in October. Thanks
