Should we expect notifications to start going out this upcoming week? I applied for visual arts and this would give my college applications a nice boost!

On the website it says December, not sure about November.

the threads from the previous years made me think that the winners were notified before Thanksgiving.

Last year, finalists were notified November 3rd-4th. Merit and Honorable Mentions were notified the week after, and everyone else was e-mailed in December.
But this year nobody has been notified of anything yet, as judges are still in the process of evaluating submissions. I applied for Spoken Theatre and hope to be a finalist. Good luck!

@achieving11 Thanks for the update. Let me know if you start to hear of notifications. Best of luck to you!

I got an email saying I put the wrong DOB, which means they must be looking at applications

I just got an email from SAIC telling me congratulations on my Young Arts recognition. Now I am puzzled. Did anyone else get notified today for visual arts?

I just checked. My D got the same email. Since no formal calls or emails have been made yet it seems, I wouldn’t read too much into it. It could be as simple as “recognizing as participation.”

Of course, it could be as awesome as being a Finalist, but I think only time will tell (and hopefully not too much longer!)

Good luck (and congratulations) either way!

@Ibmatson, have you kept up with the YoungArts 2014-2015 thread here on CC?

@2019theatremom I called SAIC and they confirmed that they sent this to all of their applicant candidates. Oh well, at least I am now going to save a $65 application fee!

Hey $65 is $65 worth saving. You’re going to need it!

I found some threads from years past. Similar emails from colleges started about this time. I think it’s more “recognition of participation” than being indicative of a prize. Doesn’t mean that won’t happen either–but I think there is not a correlation between messages from colleges at this point and the status of any YoungArts award.

Yes, that is how SAIC explained it to me. Thanks.

I applied in the Theatre division and haven’t received any e-mails at all related to YoungArts yet!

@achieving11 those responses from colleges could also be categorical. SAIC isn’t a performing arts school so maybe the college is targeting students who applied in other areas.

@YoungArts: @Matson6194 We’re working on data/emails/tedious stuff today. Can’t say exactly when notices will go out because #technology, but soon!

so we do think today or tomorrow? 'cause this wait is killing me! :-SS

I just saw a notice saying all winners are now posted online. Congratulations to all who submitted this year!!

Didn’t make it in short story…
Congratulations to all those who did!!
