<p>@arwarw - Interesting! I’m pretty sure that hasn’t happened with either of our kids. Maybe it’s a new thing this year but hasn’t happened yet?</p>
<p>Last year my daughter’s school received some kind of large trophy-- the principal called me up personally, startled by it, but it came pretty late in the year.</p>
<p>My daughter, a visual artist, is planning on entering this year. Looking at the list of winners, so few are in visual arts. Is this because not many enter, compared to the volume of entries in performing arts? If not that, then…what?</p>
<p>The number of winners varies greatly in each category. For example, in drama/MT there were 15 (?) Miami winners in D’s year, but in S’s category (Classical Guitar) there have been at most 2 Miami winners and some years none. In some part I think this may be because the amount and types of material required for submission in Classical Guitar would eliminate all but the very serious contenders. Perhaps similar barriers to entry exist for visual artists?</p>

<p>I have an amendment to my earlier comment. S’s high school did receive notification this year, including a lovely curved glass trophy engraved with his name.</p>
