Your comments on AP World History vs. AP European History. I'll be taking one or the other not far from now for my world history credit; I just haven't decided which one.

World History is more broad, whereas European is more detailed. It just depends if you like to learn details, or broad general concepts.

I took both. Personally I liked World History better because it let me learn about the history of each continent and its countries. Euro history was good, but mostly it was a repeat of stuff I knew.

It really depends on the teacher, I think. My world history teacher last year was excellent, but my euro history teacher this year is absolutely phenomenal. It depends on whether you want breadth or depth.

I took both, i really liked European history more. World History is wayy wayy too broad a subject to be taught in depth, so its all very general. Also European History is more about events/their causation/their results as well as politics, while World History is more how did the trade of this country affect another/ cross cultural interactions. For example, AP Euro question- Describe the French Revolution and its affect on Europe at the time, Describe how the treaty of Versailles helped lead to World War II. AP World Questions- Describe the role of China in the world trade market in the 1700's, Compare the revolutions of China and Russia.

I prefer World History, simply because it's refreshing to hear about something else besides white Europeans.

Also, I hated memorizing details, and WH was just simple general concepts that linked each other in a single path.

They're both pretty easy. Princeton Review book can get you a 5 for sure.

Depends on the teacher. Ask people at your school about the prospective teachers. My world history teacher was great, but my Euro teacher is a jerk.

If it matters to you...I'm finding that a lot of universities won't give any type of credit for AP World History. You might want to check the policy at the schools in which you are interested.

I heart AP Euro

at some colleges AP euro is the only one that will get you credit suprisingly sometimes AP world history is not necessary for history electives or graduation but that is just in the colleges I know so check for urs =) personally i luv world history so i was bummed when i found out my 5 would get me no credit

I would take World History, but I'm biased.

take Euro bcos its better recognized by colleges.

World history is baaadddd.... You can't spend a lot of time on any one topic because there are so many topics, and you need to cover themall before the AP test. The result: you will just be taught vague generalizations about concepts, and you will be barraged with tons of information that you will find hard to recall. Plus, lots of colleges don't even consider AP world for AP credit even if you get a 5. I'm going to have to side with Euro on this one.

I have not decided yet, but if taking AP World History means no credit, I might go with Euro.

Do you guys want to graduate in three years or why is AP credit so important for you?

I don't think that the credit you receive from AP/IB exams will be sufficient enough to get you to graduate from college in 3 years.

Depends on how many. If I get all the AP credits that my tests get me, I'd already be a junior by the time I'm in college. Of course, that's unlikely, so I'd be a sophomore.

Double major.
Any and all credit helps!!

Guess I have to check the universities I'm considering and see if they give credit for AP World History exams. I know University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins do.

Take AP Euro, it's much more intellectually stimulating. AP World is just plug and chug, you don't learn much because you have to rush to get through all of the basic material.
