i was just kind of curious....are YOU the one who wants to go to a boarding school or your parents? my parents don't want me to go bu they begrudgingly gace me permisson so i was curious about what everyone else was going to. and of any parents are answering this question...have you ever forced a kid to apply/go to boarding school? and if so, why? THANKS GUYS!

I was the one who wanted to...my mom was willing to look into it, my dad was totally against it, said I would be fine staying at my public school or going to the local private school...I thought otherwise, he finally ended up being okay with my applying and I got in to the one school I applied to and went and am very happy there.

what school do you go to?

It was my decision, but I hadn't even considered boarding school until my best friend's sister went to Andover. I also knew 3 people that went to Exeter, 1 to SPS, and 1 to Deerfield. But then, I never knew how hard it was to get in. My parents also want me to go to boarding school, so it worked out for the best.

huh, i'd never even though about it until my cousin went to andover!!!

haha, what a coincidence. I actually saw my best friend's sister today, she's on thanksgiving break. She told me she loved loved Andover, but thinks its really challenging academically.

yup, that's what i've been hearing. my cousin said he had 14 hours of homeowkr one sunday and that on the first day of school he five. i heard exeter is about the smae tho.

Aww! My parents dont want me to go. Haha, losing their girl 4 years ahead of schedule has been really hard on them!
Bahaha, honestly, my 1st inclination to boarding school was Zoey 101. Please, please PLEASE! I know, unrealistic to the maxxx. But that was the beginning of my quest :)

I like boarding school in actuality more then in hollywood :)

ya, my parents don't want me to go. my dad keeps trying to convince me to just stay here...but there's no way. i want this so bad there's no way i'm giving up!

My parents told me to start studying for the SSAT and to think about applying at first. I at first didn't want to go because.. i went to a middle school far away from my elementary school, so none of my elementary schools went there.. then i made a lot of friends at the middle school. now moving far FAR FAR away for high school? i didn't want to leave all my friends. but now, getting more into it and learning more about the schools and how they work, i'm 100% into going to a boarding school. however, my parents are starting to fluctuate on the whole boarding school thing.

Mine. My parents (especially my mum, being from the East Coast) knew about prep schools, but it was my idea to go.

It was my decision. My dad offered it as an option, but I made the final decision to apply and attend. My mom was skeptical at first, but she supported me the whole way.

Its always a joint decision. The child can decide but the parents can very well put the kabosh on it.
