What Attitude have I shown? See, none. I've just derived answers for your questions. I have already started Extracurriculars. I am in an Honors level Solisti/Orchestra and this summer I am tutoring kids. I play Tennis and Lacrosse and will continue throughout high school. I might also do cross country fall and spring. This already shows I'm not a study machine. This is not even the tip of the iceberg.

My school's val got into harvard with 4 APs (all my hs offered)

Yes, but if your school offers more, you're expected to take more for challenge.

Well, let's see... You criticized the most rigorous junior courseload (at the #1 public school in New Jersey that gets 20+ kids into Ivies with less rigorous courseloads, mind you - and that ranking isn't done the same way as that stupid Newsweek one that you brag about) as not being impressive and then made your naivety crystal clear by measuring a schedule by the number of AP classes.

Enough said.

[quote=Masterus] Yes, but if your school offers more, you're expected to take more for challenge.
And you still don't know what you're talking about.

Yes, i'll be taking as many as my school allows me to.

i come from one of the best schools in new york city (public) and there is a policy where for sophmores you can take only one AP class, which unfortunetely i didnt take but i took the AP test. My school has a major system like colleges (its unique like that). What that does is that some majors do not offer APs in junior year. I had only one AP junior year. I made up for that by taking a college course during the spring. I got an A in English composition (EG101). So that just shows that not all schools offer a lot of APs for certain classes. I am taking 5 APs my senior year, next year. Colleges first of all do not compare you to other kids in other schools but they rather compare you to other kids in your school. Because they know that a lot of schools have different things soi they compare you to other kids in the same environment. Masterus you are wrong in assuming that just because you do not have all APs junior year then you are not able to get into Ivies. I have a lot of extracurriculars and am more rounded than people i know in my school. Fine at the end of this long post I'll cave in to the sharing grades fiasco.

Gym: 90
AP AMerican History- 95
Pre-cal Honors- 97
English Honors-91 (One of the hardest and most respectable teachers in the whole school, you learn more than just your grade, but a 90 in this class is a 99 in any other english class)
Introduction to Psychology- 93
REsearch Class-95

I am taking BC Cal, AP Economics, AP Psychology, AP English, and AP Ameircan History (it is a 2 year course in my school)

Theworld8905, I understand exactly what you mean. My Freshman Honors English teacher was just simply amazing as far as words go. I got a 91 in her class, which would defianately be a A+ in any other English class. She is by far the most intelligent teacher in my school and truly has a passion for literature.

what's your major then?
i find that really interesting for highschool.
i wish my school did that, it sounds like hella fun.
and masterus everyone agrees, you have an attitude and no one likes you!

haha and yeah, my english teacher was like that too. she didn't use a grading scale really, she gave A's based on your participation, your worldview and how well you expressed it, and how well you stood up to her challenge. the highest grade fourth quarter was an 88, but she still gave out 6 A's, the ones who worked for it, out of 80 people.

my major is social science and the intro to psycholgoy and research class (social science research) are major requirements. I took sociology first term of this year. Next year as part of my major i take one term each of american culture and anthropology

If your school offered one AP Course you're expected to take that. Lets say 5 AP Classes to take in 3 years of High School. You would be expected to take all 5. And I don't have an Attitude I make my point which happens to be what you disagree with. There is no such thing as good and evil and right and wrong; It is a perspective. I guess you don't like it when your wrong because my points do make sense. If you understand so much why don't you explain? I've seen no proof you're right and I'm wrong. Vice-Versa but at least I'm being logical.

Did I ever say You can't get into Ivy League without taking all APs? No, I said you have a better chance if you take more, which is true. A big difference in comprehension of my words.

Also it's a competition. Is Harvard going to let in everyone that qualifies? Definitely no. There is a balance of boys and girls while a competition of who makes the quota Harvard has.

that so cool. i wish i went to your school.

Masterus, honestly, be quiet. Only talk if you actually know what you are talking about. Heck, when I first signed up here I didn't post anything for months about High School Education until I had searched and read the knowledge of others, before jumping to societal-instilled biases.

were the "you"'s in ur comment masterus aimed at me? W/e it doesn't matter. I did technically take it. I did not take the class but i made it up by taking the AP test this year. So i agree with what you say about if a class is fofered u have to take it in order to be accepted into an Ivy. My school had a college fair and Harvard was the only Ivie that came. I had to work there so i spent about 2 hours talking to him. He told me that he knows that my school is unique and he takes that into considereation when he investigatres possible canddiates. So you are wrong in that respect MAsterus. You do not have to take all APs and i stress that again and i will keep doing that if you do not get the point.

And in refrence to river, i know its cool. What tat allows me to do is see if i want to major in social science whcih i dont. I know that now and i did not have to waste money in college by changing majors.

By the way it's not what you beleive is hard. The Colleges think that and AP are what they determine for you. Honors can still be ok. What newsweek list? My school offers about 185 courses total.

i agree with jashper i have read a lot of very very long threads on this site and tat has increased my knowledge of college. Although i have to admit some of the things that are posted on this site is wrong. But i digress.

Next time read my posts carefully. I said with more APs you have a better chance. You can still get into a well-ranked school without everything being AP. I'm talking about a higher percentile in admissions acceptance.

I highly disagree with that. Wow i never saw so much ignorance in my life. I agree with everyone in this forum who posted in this thread. I tried to give you the benefit of a doubt but now i know whatever comes out of your mouth is wrong. Who said more APs increase your chances? You think AP Art History makes you look better for a business school? And what happens when you get a bad grade huh. What is going to be your excuse. No offence to anyone who takes AP ARt history its just that is the first AP tat came to mind as i was typing this post.

Also who said that more aPs are a higher percentile? Where is your proof, did u talk to any admissions people in ANY college?

AP Art is regarded as an elective by colleges.

If you think you know, Why don't you explain how it works? If I really am wrong. This wasn't even the question we were answering. If you go back, this arguement was completed. Then we start on attitude.
