masterus,
about your comment on having good ec's. people who want to get into an "ivy", need to have about 2-3 time consuming ec's, that they excel at. one of those ec's should have to deal with education, like junior statesmen, debate, student government, etc. it's not the amount of ec's you have, but the quality and the amount of time that you put into them. also, you should devote your time during summer to one of your ec's, like volunteer work. basically the best ec's you could have are: education ec, community service ec, and sports/clubs ec. and since everyone says that your not in highschool yet, don't even worry about it. i highly doubt that you'll take ALL APs your junior year, because to you, it seems like you think high school is a breeze, which is not true.

Well, I'm most likely to take 5 APs in my sophmore year. AP Latin Poetry, AP Spanish Language, AP Calculus BC, AP US History and AP Biology. I never said amount mattered. Community service amount matters. For clubs, you should have ones that interest you but at the same time have you present an impressive portfolio to colleges.

Yeah, I fixed it. Thanks. I have started studying my 9th grade courses to be prepared and if I can master it, I will be able to take the final exam to enter a high class.

Masterus, since you clearly know little more than stereotypes about college admissoins, why don't you just lay low for a while and not make any more controversial posts or start any arguments until you know what you're talking about. And don't argue with me on that. You do not know what you're talking about.. First accept that. Then listen to what everyone else says, because most people on CC are right. Go for some college visits, sit in on information sessions, and ask admissions reps your questions. You will learn a ton. Don't go by your own assumptions or what your guidance counselor or other adults or other students have told you. Go to the source. I've been to a ton of information sessions (at least 20ish, as I have two older sisters who have gone through the process themselves), and it has taught me a lot. Ask questions, but don't be critical until you know what you're talking about.

First of all, Ivy League Colleges are competitions for admission. That is the truth. You compete with other people who have worked as hard. What you take matters. There is no "highest rigorous" course because anyone can take any class if you self study the prerequisites and take those final exams. Having more of a challenge impresses colleges. If you know the school system, you'd figure out a way to take many types of AP classes early. Plus just to tell you, I haven't mentioned one stereotype.

Yes, but why do u feel the need to critique us? You have YET to answer this. We know all this stuff, but we dont obsess over it. I'm not willing to completely sacrifice a social life. You're not making a lot of friends here, because you're insulting us and telling us we're not good enough. You have high standards for yourself..but you dont even know if you'll get all A's!

Since when have i criticized? The only thing I said is not "That's not impressive as someone taking all AP Classes". I'm not saying that's not good. Am I? I'm making a comparison to a higher standard of courses.

Yes, but why? Why do you need to say that. By saying it's not as impressive, that is criticizing. And why is it necessary? WHY!!!!! We dont need to hear what you think of our schedule.

Oh my gosh, just dont insult my or other people's schedules please. You're not even in fricken high school yet. You know, maybe the people with these scheudles that you think are not good, maybe they dont want to go to Harvard. When you act like this, Masterus, like you're better than us, it makes people not like you.

he only thing I said is not "That's not impressive as someone taking all AP Classes". <<

And taking all AP classes isn't as impressive as studying couple dozens of them in self-study. And even that's not as impressive as a couple of Nobel prizes, maybe five or six. However, seven is even more impressive!

You don't have to go to school to impress colleges. You have to enjoy learning and AP is only a way to get more enjoyment in an area that you love. Common!

I never said I didn't enjoy learning. I do enjoy it but I want the joy learning to bring me to reaches where noone has been. Everyone has the potential to do well, it's just how you utilize it.

How do I act better than you. I know other people that have had good schedules. I'm comparing your schedule to their schedule. How have I acted better than you? I haven't actively or passively say anything.

English Honors:C, A
Pre-Calculus:A, A
PE:A, A
US History:A, A
Chemistry:A, A(I got a 97/95 on my final and my teacher even called my parents to say that i got the highest score out of anyone in all her classes--including her honors class. I was pretty psyched up about this=D)
Spanish:A, A

Omg im just done talking to you...you're so stuck up. You tell me my school's classes aren't good enough, that my classes aren't rigorous enough, you tell people they're not leaders, etc. Come here, ask for advice, you're new to high school. you shouldn't be telling us how to get into the ivy league. I'm not aiming for Harvard. I'm aiming for top schools but I'll do things my way. I take the hardest classes at my school, I'm going to take summer classes next year, I do activities that Im passionate about, I do volunteer work, and I have friends. If any of that isnt good enough for your standards...who the hell cares you're in middle schools. that's how i see it.

Yes, thats great. We know this already. You dont need to remind us. There are circumstances for some people where they cant take so many APs. And some of those people are okay with it. So let them be. If im taking the hardest schedule possible and I excel in the classes I'm in good shape.

masterus,
not true, AP classes are not on level with some more advanced classes.
like we have a class called differential equations, which is the highest possible math class at our school, higher than calc bc, and it doesn't have an AP class, altough it does receive AP weight in the GPA.
you know little actually, all you know is what the common belief is, take a *load of APs, get into college. not true. courses that you take help your chances of getting into the ivies but that's not it. with your attitude you won't become president. so therefore all you have is classes going for you. but somebody like greenday who challenges themselves as much as possible and has more ecs will get in before you before they are more well rounded.
your attitude stinks and therefore no one will like you, you will have a *ty highschool experience, and you'll never get into the ivies because you got burnt out in highschool.
