lonestardad, I said nothing about Baylor undergraduate having a medical school on the same campus.

They actually have a medical school branch around Dallas I've heard, but don't tell me it's wrong anyway because it might be and I don't care that much if I have to go to Houston.

Nonetheless I read this article and I'm going by the professionals more than you; but thanks for you imput.

It's a statistic I heard that 70% of the med students come from the undergraduate school, regardless of location or level of affiliation.

texasmathwhiz - Baylor University is a fine university in many respects, but it has no medical school "branch" or otherwise anywhere in the United States, including Dallas. The only medical school in Dallas is University of Texas - Southwestern. In Houston the medical schools are Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas - Houston (Medical Branch). That's it, there is no affiliation to Baylor in Waco of any kind.

Whether or not there is affiliation, I'm telling you of that statistic. I respect your advice but I'm not really thinking about taking it. Besides I"m not counting much on that factor for medical school admission.

I've done two seconds of research and discovered that you are correct about the location of Baylor Medical School, thanks for the wake up call.

I still know I've heard this statistic, and it sounds nice, but I will not live by it.

I seem to get pulled into every Baylor conversation like a moth to a flame.LOL. Baylor and Baylor Med's affiliation is primarily historical but one significant attachment remains, the Baylor/Baylor Med combined degree program. Each year select BU freshmen are offered admittance to a program that, upon successful completion, leads to automatic medical school acceptance at Baylor Med. (The same as Rice has with its Rice/Baylor combined degree program. A family friend is in the BU program now and is quite pleased.)

As to there existing a bias in favor of BU grads at Baylor Med, I'd say "probably" from watching acceptances for the last 3 decades. As to 70% of Baylor Med's class coming from Baylor UG, well-that is not a stat that agrees with anything I have ever heard.

I don't know where i heard that statistic so I suppose it is somewhat irrelevant.

Nonetheless, you have agreed that there is some favor towards Baylor undergraduates.

The problem with counting on that is, what if I don't get into Baylor medical school. Then Baylor University doesn't really look all that impressive to other medical schools.

TMW:
If you apply online to Baylor, there is no fee. Apply, get accepted, get the $, make a few overnight visits to see if teh campus culture is the one for you. Seems like you cannot lose :)

TMW- I predict you will change your mind 20 times or more between now and when it is time for you to decide where to apply. You have plenty of time, and you don't even know how much your SATs will improve by early senior year. I predict that you will be shooting a lot higher than Baylor by then. Most kids aren't ready to even venture a guess by the end of sophomore year. Wait and see if you can stand Texas! You might want to head back to California.
