Where do y’all keep finding these printer paper deals at Staples? Just sent DH there yesterday and the best he could do was $9.99 after $25 in Rewards.

They are in with the back to school, and generally involve a Staples Rebate–very easy to do online. Sometimes the rebate is in a visa card (like a gift card, you can use it anywhere), sometimes the rebate is in Reward dollars. Since Dh has his own business, we can use either one.

Office Depot has had paper for about $1 per ream after rebate, too. Generally two ream limit, one rebate per household (ie mailing adress).

Just got back from Staples. Picked up Photoshop cs5 extended for $129.00 which is amazing. They had one 20% off any item coupon, plus a $10 off of any $50 purchase and a $5 off of $25 purchase which they were able to use all together. Plus while we were there picked up 2 reams of paper for .50 each and a great Portable speaker that attaches to a computer or ipod via usb for $2.50, regularly $40.00!

Coldwater Creek has 40% off everything and free shipping with code WZH6845.

Since I work at Walmart, it is easy to purchase a bunch of crap on my way out for the day. But since I’ve worked closing these past three days, I haven’t been able to buy anything as I leave because all of the registers are closed! The best way to save money is to not spend it so I’ve been doing pretty good. :)

Office Depot has a deal that you buy two reams of paper & after the mail-in rebate, you only end up paying $1/ream. One of the reams I bought had 650 pages in it while the other had the regular 500! The ad has it again this week, but I think I have enough paper for now. As my sister says, you get silverfish if you stockpile paper around this state.

Sears has a coupon in the paper–15% off already discounted clothing & other items. I bought underwear on sale for D & me–it was already on clearance, ranging in price from $.99 to $2.99 from marked price of $7.50. I got 50% off and another 15% off, so two of the items are $.43 and the other was $1.29! Bought D some underwear as well @ > 40% off!

Bought a bottle of Connundrum (sp?) from Costco that dad says usually sells for about $25+ for $18 at Costco.

D bought a desktop computer that is very high end & will be delivered free from Costco so it should be able to do what she needs it to with cinema & graphics. Unfortunately, since it was purchased & shipped to CA, we have to pay their taxes & fees! Oh well, helping out their state is a good thing. :)

Groupon is today’s Ebates Daily Double. 6% cash back on Groupon purchases.

Dinner last night with another couple. We had a coupon for one entree and also an old coupon (which they honored) for $25 off and a free dessert for a birthday (we’d gotten it for my DH’s birthday many months back). The waiter also was very appreciative of something we did (he was really mistreated by the hostess and we were embarassed for him). He brought us free appetizers and a huge stack of coupons for future meals!

I was happy this weekend to be listening to a radio show (home shopper) in our area that mainly has deals on restaurants and trips. I had wanted tickets to see a comedian Colin Quinn and he had tickets, a little less than 2 for the price of one, but you had to go mid-week. They also have a website on WELI if you live in CT although the trips can be used by anyone. I hope he’s funny, don’t know much about it, but at least it was cheap.

Outlet shopping with D2. She needed bras. She is very picky. She loves Victoria’s Secret, but I only buy from the bins during their big semi-annual sales. The sale started around first of July, and by this weekend there would be little left. So we started at the outlet center. I did not want to be tempted by “Please mom” on a full price VS. First intimates store, no luck. Second one, no luck… Fourth one, BINGO. Wonderbras at a wonderful price, with 25% more off if you buy three. Three of the BEST BRAS, that fit and put a huge smile on her face for $48. I would be lucky to get one at VS.

We did go to the mall for some shorts and khaki pants. Hollister (too dark, too loud, and too perfumey) had THE khakis (ahhh to be able to wear skinny leg pants) for $20, and shorts for $15. AE had shorts for $19. Three pair of shorts and one pair of pants for $70. DONE. And now that she usually pays for her stuff out of a budget, she was SO HAPPY and SO GRATEFUL that i was taking her shopping. I threw in for sushi lunch that was the best we ever had. Great day all around.

Backpacks–

Might have been me posting about the North Face backpacks at TJ Maxx.

Was at Ross yesterday and they had a TON of backpacks…Jansport, Roxy, BillaBong, High Sierra…just a ton.

Went to the Container Store first, shopped and bought not one thing. Way too pricey for me. Went to Ross and bought some of the exact same items…same manufacturer, same color, same size for one third the price as the Container Store. Gave me some good ideas though.

Kat

Just ordered some young men’s jeans from Land’s End Canvas for $14.99 ea. (orig. 49.50) with free shipping. If my sons don’t like them, I’ll just return them at a Sears store.

sunnyflorida, it sounds like you had a great day!

I feel the same way about Hollister. I actually walk to the other side of the hall so that I don’t have to walk to close to their door. Granted, I am older and clearly not their target market, but my kids hate it too,. Even if they didn’t, if I am taking them shopping, target market or not, if I don’t go in the store the kids aren’t in there either at that point.

Hollister’s market has to include a good 60-70% (or more?) of kids whose parents are footing the bill. I have said that their sales would increase tremendously if they upped the lights and lowered the music. We buy there on sale and head straight for the back to see what is marked down. Then look in the front, only again if mark-downs. I cannot WAIT to get out. I really suspect I would have spent more over the years if the place was conducive to my spending more time inside.

Perhaps that is the idea? Mommy and Daddy give kids the money to go spend as they can’t stand to set foot in the place? Not sure why they do so well. And why do I want to spend money for tops/jackets that have their name all over them? They should be paying me… D feels the same way :). She only buys bottoms… When you are a 00 or 0, you only have so many places that sell bottoms that fit. I am quite sure I was never a 0. Ever. Sigh…

My son was into that brand in 7th grade. Sunnyflorida, I feel exactly the same you do about this store. I will also add that the store near me is also freezing in addition to the dark, perfume filled, loud atmosphere. I also shopped there the way do when son was in 7th grade. I agreed to buy a few tees if they were on sale. He has since gotten over any brand names
Now he will wear anything that fits and looks good on him.

Not sure if rummage sales count in the bargian thread but this morning we picked up a HP laserjer 1012 for $5. Works perfectly!

Hollister has great online sales but their sizes run super small for guys too. My oldest S (20) is 6’, 165lbs (which is fairly normal size for a guy) and the XL shirts are too small on him. He doesn’t wear their t’shirts but liked the polos because they are super-soft. My S(18) is kinda over their stuff. Two of my boys have to wear their jeans because they run long and you can get a 30x34 which is very hard to find. I agree about heading straight to the back for the sales. We do the same at A&F.

This was a good, not a great deal. Took a walk with DH to the drugstore. Stopped at the fresh fruitstand and she sold me peaches for 1/2 price because it was teh end of teh day. Then I bought 2 things of Revlon lipstick- usually $10 each, for $9 total, after sale and coupons, and then it gave a $6 in store credit coupon for a next purchase. I then bought other stuff with another coupon but forgot to use the $6 credit I had in my hand!! Oh well, I will have to buy something for $6 within the month. I usually remember to use the credit right then and there on the next purchase, but I got into a conversation with DH and forgot. The second purchase had a 25% off coupon, so I saved about $5. Oh well. I guess I need to buy more stuff. DS will be home in a week. I know he’ll need something at the drugstore.

parentofpeople, it was definitely your good buy of the day, so yes, it belongs in this thread! :)
