Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

^^Love TJMaxx for luggage! About 1.5 years ago I bought a piece of luggage for my son (just before he went to college). I paid $99 for it. I don’t recall the exact price any longer, but I know that everywhere else that I looked it sold for over $300! I also really like them for handbags!

Just returned from GW. I got a GREAT Coach tote which is surely a fake, but it’s nicely made, brand new and I LOVE it ($11…where can you get a purse for $11). Got a pair of cream color linen jeans style slacks for my trip $5…and three books that were $2 each.

Much of our luggage also comes from TJMaxx too…and a couple of pieces wer actually in the clearance area (probably because they were NOT black/navy). I have a Nautica carry on that I love. DS and DD have Swiss Gear carryons. DD’s suitcase is an American Airlines one that is absolutely the nicest 26 inch one I’ve ever seen.

I bought these (brown color) at TJMaxx yesterday for $79.00. I splurged because they were very comfortable and really looked nice with my slim jeans tucked inside.

thumper, yup, I bought my luggage also on clearance at TJMaxx.

nysmile, those look very nice and also practical. I am not in the market for boots til everyone is finished with school, otherwise I would try those on. Fortunately, my boots last forever since I really don’t wear them too often.

Thanks. It was a splurge for me. I didn’t have any boots, so this was a good find. The brown color is nice. The footbed is nicely padded. The sole isn’t slippery and there is plenty of width in the forefoot so my toes don’t feel squished–lol.

With two kids in college, I feel a bit guilty splurging on a nonessential item. It’s so rare for me to buy something for myself on a whim. They were so comfortable and practical, I didn’t want to pass on them. :)

When your feet aren’t comfortable, neither is the rest of you and you will tire MUCH more quickly. If your feet are cold, the rest of you is also soon cold.

^^Comfort is everything!

I love those boots!

I love those boots! Makes me want to run out to my local TJ Maxx on my lunch hour and see if they have any in my size.

I have been looking around for luggage lately and I agree that TJ Maxx and Marshall’s has the best quality luggage for the lowest prices.

I received a shipping notice on the vases today.

Got S1 a pr. of 100% wool Banana Republic dress pants for $3.79 at Goodwill.

Today till (thru?) Monday, American Eagle online extra 50% off clearance and free shipping - must be some Christmas gifts in there somewhere!!! Use code 82476531

I bought a pair of UGG boots for myself at Salvation Army for $15! Not sure how often I’ll wear them (as I’ve just entered my fifth decade) but couldn’t resist the bargain!

rutgers- My 11yo just asked for a pair of uggs. I am afraid hers are going to cost a heck of a lot more than $15. Great deal.

rutgersmamma - Great find on the Ugg boots. I sold a well worn pair of D’s Uggs at a garage sale last year for $30 and the lady who bought them thought she got a deal!

mamom, you can tell your daughter that China is skinning millions of animals - many alive - in order to fuel the Uggs market with knockoffs. Labeling is relaxed in Australia so some boots labeled as Uggs are made from the skin of the raccoon dog. Domestic dogs are also skinned in China for knockoffs. Refusing the buy the real thing will also slow down the market for the knockoffs. Besides, they completely screw up feet because of the lack of arch support. Younger girls, in particular, should not be wearing them.

I don’t buy Uggs because they are so expensive and similar boots without the name serve just as well. I love my flat, warm boots with lots of toe room. :)

As far as lack of arch support, we got along for eons without shoes. I don’t believe arch support is essential unless you already have something wrong with your feet…then you need orthotics. (And bad shoes are probably the main cause of foot problems. I have no bunions or corns because I have never worn too-tight shoes just b/c they are fashionable. My 2 cents.)

Edit: I hasten to add that cruelty to animals is another reason to avoid Uggs!

well, you convinced me, not so sure my 11yo D will be though. i will pass the info along though.

Sorry, I have Bearclaws (which have the same animal rights issues as Uggs) and I love them. And I wear them when outdoors ALL WINTER LONG…I just don’t wear them as my “shoes” all day long. And I’m in my 6th decade…they are nice boots.

I got an email from Outback a couple of days ago saying I could used my free steak coupon ANY night now…not just M-th. Did anyone else get that? I thought that was great news.

Thumper, I got that email also. Just in time, my daughter will be home for the weekend tomorrow and we have a family dinner planned for Outback on Sunday!
