Just redid the bathroom and had to buy some new towels to match. JC Penney’s was having a great sale, PLUS I had a $10 off coupon. I got over $40 worth of towels for about $11. :)

Acer /Aspire 11" netbooks at target for $197, normally $299.

I used the JCP $10 on some towels and a bath rug for D’s apt yesterday - great deal!

SO HAPPY! Just halved my rental car price in SFO by checking the Costco.com site. Was going to have a rate of just over $220 for a week. Am now just under $110 for a PREMIUM car instead. Best of all, they allowed me to add S & H as additional drivers at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE!

You know how everything breaks at once? I was able to find a repair person who worked on microwave ovens AND front-load washers, which saved me a service call. I bought my own parts for the washer (gasket) and television (rear-end bulb) after researching my problems on the internet. I guessed right and saved at least $200 on the parts.

Don’t see any netbooks @ $199 at Target.com. Is it an in-store special? That’s a great price! I did have an Acer Aspire One, but it kept overheating and freezing up. :(

Looks like that will be a Black Friday offering. Guess I’ll have to decide whether I want it or not.

anyone has a code for Lands End?

Lands End: I got this in email today: 25% off outerwear and free shipping with $50: Code is OUTERSALE and Pin is 8912 - ends tomorrow. Also, fleece is on sale.

HImom, if I read your post correctly and you’re looking for inexpensive flights between LAX and SFO, check southwest airlines. They have new sales each week and the fare frequently is $59 each way but sometimes you can luck out and get even lower fares (I’m flying that route roundtrip for $70 in January–my good buy a few weeks ago). If you’re not familiar with Southwest, the best thing about the airline is that you can make changes without a fee and even cancel your flight and have a year to use the funds.

Thanks for that suggestion. For the dates we’re trying, SW is actually more expensive than UAL, so we’re probably going to end up flying UAL. Have never had much luck with SW, but know many folks have. Will try with more advance booking & see if that improves the fares.

My daughter just changed her SW flight for Thanksgiving. Instead of an already good price of $129 for one way, she got a new one, two days later then the original plan, for $80! Guess it’s more of a sort-of-good-deal since we paid for the initial flight (our policy is kids always fly free home) but she’ll get the credit to use towards another flight. I don’t think they refund the money to the credit card.

Thanks for mentioning costco.com as a source for deals on rental cars, HImom, I often forget to look there. I’m considering getting a rental for the long Thanksgiving break so we don’t have so much car juggling with all of our drivers home without their cars. I found that I can get one at our small local airport for only $147/week!

kathiep: I am very interested in your DD’s flight change. How did she get away without paying a change fee? I don’t know much about airlines but my DD is planning on traveling to a few Grad School auditions and I would love to know a way she can save on flights.

We are going to Florida in Dec. as a family (airline tickets purchased with CC Miles) and she is flying down separately from the airport nearest to her school. I have told her that if there is a good opportunity to give up her seat in return for a flight voucher she should consider it since she is traveling alone.

MomOf3Stars - That’s the beauty of SW airlines - there is never a change fee. That’s why it’s the perfect airline for college students who often change their plans. I will pay a bit more for a SW flight for their free bags and no-change-fee policies. [No Change Fee - Southwest Airlines](Flight Changes and Cancellations Overview | Southwest Airlines)

MomOf3-That’s the great feature of Southwest Airlines, never any change fees. If there is a difference in fare, you will pay that (or receive a travel funds credit) but no additional change fees will be charged.

HiMom, the 11" Acer Aspire is an instore special only and they are not offering rainchecks. They did say that they will be getting more in throughout the week.

I never knew that about Southwest! I agree that it is worth the extra $$ to have no change fees and the free checked bag.

My DD plays the French Horn and will have to carry that on and check a bag when she goes to auditions. I have been looking at SW for flights and they are pretty reasonable. For our Florida trip I had to book her on United due to her schedule so no free bag :(

Just snagged some of Jill’s Steals and Deals for Christmas presents on today dot com. Isotoner Smart Touch gloves for $12.50 and Charm Circe bracelet for $37. Around 75% off.

HImom- you might try signing up for SWA DING, then tag your most frequent routes, this shows you new specials nearly everyday, once you’ve purchased a ticket, keep watching DING, you might go back in and rebook it cheaper and use those funds for another trip

Thanks Singersmom07. Just got the gloves for both sons.

Chiming in about Southwest…My H booked D back to school after Xmas over a month ago. D called to say that flight was now cheaper and we have a $39 credit on SWA!
(And we thought the flight was a good deal before!)
