Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Mathmomvt my friend is sending her husband a Valentine special for Omaha steaks because he is a true carnivore and she thinks he would like to try them…always thought they were pricey but they tasted very good.
This was the special:
[Omaha Steaks Valentines Day Special - Free Shipping on Orders $59.99+](http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/284806)

Today’s GW finds…a new grey turtleneck to replace the one that self destructed, a very nice Ann Taylor sweater, an Ann Taylor spring coat…very cute (only $7), a pair of Talbots black uncut cord slacks…very nice, and a darling summer dress I’m going to wear to a wedding. Total $30.

My husband will be away on Valentines day…so let ME know if you find any good deals I can tell him to get ME!!

thumper, just curious how big are your closets? Do you ever get to a point where you have to donate back to GW in order to accomodate your new purchases? I’m gearing up for closet cleaning this weekend…ughh! I hate rearranging my closet and buy very little in order to avoid it but, alas, the time has come.

My friend has a rule, one item in, one item out. She and her kids donate clothes once a month. I’ve tried it…but haven’t been able to get into the habit…

2 items out…one item in. I have a nice size walk in closet all my own (our master has two walk in closets…DH has his own too). It has a lot of space in it. I have gotten rid of old things I no longer wear. I like having new (to me) clothes. Some stuff just gets “stale”.

I’ve been trying to be better at not hanging onto things I wont wear or use with that “maybe” always hanging there. I always tend to gravitate to the same favorites.
I know someone who finds great items at GW, some she gives her daughter, some vintage items, she keeps, but she realized one day that the new or like-new sweater or cashmere coat could also help her make money. She has made over 200.00 the last few months selling them at consignment shops to help pay for her daughter’s train trips home or she saves it in a rainy day fund. A lot of work it seems but it works for her.

My uncle does this he has tons of money but finds it fun to buy things at garage sales and then sell them on craigs list

Yesterday at GW I bought a GAP thermal long sleeve t-shirt and a pr. of olive green GAP cargo capri pants. Cost $7.79. Should be great for boating/canoeing/kayaking this spring. I’ve lost weight since last year this time so have had to replace almost all my clothes. GW has been a lifesaver for me. I’ve donated almost all of my “too big” clothes to GW.

Good for you, PackMom! It must feel so great to shed the “too big” clothing & get some nice new stuff at prices that don’t break the bank. Around here, Savers gives donors a coupon for discounts off future purchases when they donate things. I’m sure GW appreciates you. Haven’t heard much from anyone about Salvation Army–maybe they’re not as prevalent or popular?

S’s school has Insomnia Cookies. I have been tempted to send him a shipment but worry that he might not be in his room and would miss the delivery.

I bought D some insomnia cookies on Groupon. It was a bit irritating because they did NOT deliver it when promised but she said they were pretty good. They keep pretty well & she got it during finals week, so she was VERY popular. :)

I have a hard time disposing of clothing, but SHOULD try harder at it. I have been about the same weight & height (give or take maybe 10 pounds or so & of course pregnancy) from HS many decades back. Am SLOWLY learning to give away things, but have hoarding tendencies from more frugal days. I also keep getting tshirts for being a speaker and attending conferences.

Just got this cookie offer from Costco: [Costco - Mrs. Fields® New Heart Tin](http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11269544&search=275813&topnav=&Mo=0&cm_mmc=BCEmail_712-_-Focus-_-6-_-MarketingItemName#BVRRWidgetID)

Himom I know a woman who had tons of great tee shirts from all the walking and running races, some with great mottos and pictures. She being more pro-active in organizing, had many turned into a quilt which she proudly has on her den couch.

My friend who buys and sells started when she would always see great finds but not her size or color or those of her daughter etc. One day she thought why not buy it at a steal and try to resell it…she might get more online, but the consignment shop was easier and they love to see her coming. She gave my daughters some “Juicy” top/pants they didn’t like and a too small Gap black dress among other items. I resold them and gave them the money for books.
I am going to try Savers again this weekend, it opened recently near me and seems nice and getting lots of items.

I know someone who told me that he goes to yard sales and then resells his newly found treasures at a consignment shop that gets a lot of foot traffic since it is in a major city.

Through Groupon, AMC is offering movie tickets 2/$12 or 4/$24 through North Jersey.

Our local Kmart has a Land’s End section in it. They’re selling a lot of the Land’s End stuff on clearance now with an additional 25% off the sale price. I bought a Men’s polo shirt for $11.00. They had some very nice no iron men’s oxford shirts for $19.99 plus an additional 25% off. I didn’t buy any because we don’t have a need for more, but it’s a great price.

nysmile thanks for the tip! I have not gone to Kmart since last summer so I have no idea if out local stores (I have 2 near my area) are carrying Land’s End currently.

Our Kmart is kind of weird. Besides having a Land’s End section, it also features Kenmore appliances.

I believe that at least one of the Kmarts near me also sells appliances, but I have never even gone to that area of the store to check it out.
