Williams-Sonoma is offering their large All-Clad slow cooker for $179, free shipping. The normal price is $400. I was thinking about getting one a year or two ago, but read the reviews and was put off by multiple reports of the non-stick coating coming off. Apparently that problem has now been fixed.

My DS wanted a new desk chair. I gave him some to choose from from the Costco website as they had good chairs and great prices and he wanted a particular style. He picked one yesterday morning, I ordered it on line midday yesterday, and he is sitting in it TODAY! Arrived in a day!!

Also just ordered some absolutely adorable personalized baby thank-you cards with matching envelopes (baby’s first and middle name is on the stationery, complete name/address on the envelope). Really REALLY cute stuff. have ordered from them before. The stationery is on sale for half price and the envelopes were a little less (maybe 20%) off. Got 48 cards and matching envelopes for about $35. They have a lot of other choices for older kids and assorted other stuff. Site is called AmyAdele. Tell them you heard about them on cc!!

I’ve passed the $300 mark in ebates. Yes, part is from shopping online for clothes, shoes, Amazon…but I also use to book rooms, rental cars, flights; buy flowers to send FTD; buy items for in-store pick up at Home Depot; and use it to buy my Groupons and Living Social deals.

jym…I also got a few magazines I enjoy when the rebate was an incredible 48%. Have been trying to phase out of magazines, but couldn’t resist some of my favs at half price.
I periodically check which “stores” use ebates. Always some thing new, it seems. I see now there is a category for gift cards (AmEx, Macy’s, etc.) but guessing there might be some fine print that I’ll have to check first…

I’ve used mrrebates, and love the “free” money it generates. Thanks for the info on ebates, Gosmom. I’ve just signed up for it online and will get a $10 Target card when I spend my first $25.

My first purchase is going to be through the Lancome site which is offering a 20% discount through 11/30, plus another 14% through ebates.

Late last night I ordered through shoebuy.com and got a 30% discount for CyberMonday, as well as a 15% discount with mrrebates.

Does ebates have the same referral policy as mrrebates? I referred my sister to mrrebates last year, and now get 20% of every rebate she earns!

Yes, there is a referral program for ebates (love that site!!), which I think is a one time payment for each referral…maybe $5? It’s on the front page of their website.

I cannot believe this… I have not bought any non-food item (cat litter does not count!) since pre-Thanksgiving!! The economy must be feeling the pain…

My local Nordie had some designer shoes on sale today, 40% off. I poked through the stuff on the rack and was not impressed. I already own pretty much every Tod’s shoe that was on sale… :)

I’m glad so many people like Ebates but I’ve also heard bad things and complaints online, some sites have people complaining of lost money, not getting rebates, having things disappear from their list of things bought.
I’m sure as with any company, things happen, it’s how they handle it that matters.

I’m looking into it when my daughters graduate next year, I use Upromise now and get percentages back that go into their 529 account. I’ve saved hundreds over the years and just got 35.00 for a laptop purchase.
I am for any rebate program that doesn’t require the old fashioned cutting out codes and sending it by snail mail. : )

I used upromise until last year. We were offered a credit card by our bank that we hold all our accts at including our mortgage. We get 1% back in $25 increments applied directly to our principle balance automatically. We do nothing. We run everything through the card like we did our debits and pay the balance off each month, never incurring a fee. For us this is ideal since we don’t travel and airline or hotel points wouldn’t mean much to us. We can still take advantage of other cash back programs like ebates.

I did some hunting too Debruns after I emailed my son about using it. He responded he thought it was a good way to get hacked. As best as I can tell, no one reported that using ebates allowed an unwelcome source to enter their computer but people did report some trouble getting rebates.

It sounded like many of the disputes had to do with the company that sold the item saying that they had paid ebates their money but ebates saying they had not received it so did not pass this along to the consumer. Hard to know what all is the truth there.

But, since it “sounds too good to be true” it is worth watching and doing a trial of items bought to see if it runs smoothly or not.

When I first signed up, it took a little bit of time to get used to the process. For instance, I think you have to have at least $5 worth of rebate build up before they will “give” it to you (it can accumulate from quarter to quarter). Also, I was frustrated that some rebates came through quicker than others - but they all did finally come through. (For instance, on Sunday I ordered from Kohls and on Monday I ordered from Entertainment.com - the Entertainment rebate email came on Monday, shortly after I ordered, the Kohls rebate email just came today).

I was not aware of those other ways to use ebates - groupon and car rentals and such. Will have to check that out!

I also am a big ebates user and didn’t know about the groupon and car rentals. As far as being hacked, I have used it with no problem for years but it does generate lots of email trying to get you to buy from all kinds of sites. I have three email addresses: one for each of my jobs and one for “junk and shopping.” Only use the junk one for stuff like ebates.

That’s interesting. I use ebates and it hasn’t generated any emails to me. I wonder if there’s a setting somewhere to opt in or out. Regardless, the separate shopping email makes lots of sense.

I think some problems from ebates stem from shoppers navigating off the retailer’s site while shopping, then returning to make the purchase. I believe the ebates tracker is lost when this happens. There’s now a browser app available on the ebates home page that allows you to see whether the ebates link is active while shopping and, if not, to activate it with a click on your menu bar. It is really handy. I love ebates. It’s cheaper for me to shop online at Sephora or Nordstrom or Macys using ebates than it is to go to the store. I’ve earned about $160 this year, and I am not a big shopper.

So when ebates redirects you to the store, the site is secure and your passwords for that store are safe? I feel like I have been really missing out!

I also have a separate email for junk/shopping. Have not had a problem with hacking (knock wood) while using ebates for past two years. Only extra emails generated seem to be when I actually buy something. Then I “unsubscribe” if it gets annoying.

I agree, some companies take longer to submit info to ebates, but checks are only sent once a quarter or so, so not really big deal to me. Any travel ebates (rental car, hotel, etc.) come after you have actually used, not when you buy online, which makes sense, but I have seen complaints about that.

fwiw, my D feels that Mr. Rebates is more “profitable” than Ebates, but I’ve been to lazy to check/learn a new system ;)
