Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Oh come on, Bunsen Burner - Bill Gates’ neighborhood! Why did we even need to read that! What did that statement have to do with good buys? Macy sale prices are pretty much the same whatever the neighborhood.

Singersmom- while the prices at all the Macy’s may be the same the merchandise is not. I have 2 Macy’s in my town. The merchandise is different at each of them. If I am looking for “premium” denim such as Hudson Jeans I would not find them at the Macy’s near my house, I would have to go to the Macy’s 15 minutes away.
Edit- I was the one looking for Hudson jeans. D found a pair at the Nordstrom Rack in her price range.

singersmom, sorry I did not mean to offended anyone with my description of the Macy’s location - this was meant as a hint to let my local CCers know where to look for these jeans, nothing else. mom60 is correct about the availability of merchandise at different Macy’s. The one I’ve visited yesterday always has the best selection. I was at a different Macy’s last weekend, and they had no Hudsons in stock.

mom60, I’m glad your D had such good luck at NR!

There are very different selections at the different neighborhood stores–I agree!

I wish the fares from HI to the continental US were as good as the fares from CA to HI. Oh well, we will be welcoming some relatives to visit due to the great fares. There will be a new airlines starting up that will have amazing fares as well–under $100/direction plus baggage fee to HI!

The fares to Europe still are pretty steep, but going up, so waiting is a double-edged sword.

I booked a fare to Italy that was $800 a month ago, in the $700s the week before. A friend booked 10 minutes after me and it was $20 more. It has kept going up, now it is $1400.

Yea, we were waiting to get info about S’s job finalized while we figured out where we wanted to go in Europe (because I’ve become more cautious about booking since I HATE change fees). We bought yesterday (just after Virgin Atlantic raised their fares last night), on Air New Zealand, of all airlines, which will fly to & from the cities we are interested in. It was nearly $1000 less than competitors, but not nearly the $700-800 you mention. It also varies considerably based on the dates of travel, cities involved, etc.

Yes, I’ve been following the fare for the flight my DS will be taking soon to Italy. Same story as yours. I find it ludicrous that the exact same flight fluctuates by $400 in a single day.

Yea, I watched the fares for us on the same airlines go up from $735 to >$900 for only part of the trip BEFORE taxes & fees! We opted to fly another airline, especially since there are 4 of us flying!

It really feels like you’re betting & gambling when you purchase tickets. Change fees are absurdly high and you can’t tell when to buy or wait. ARGH!

If your daughter asked you for this for her birthday, where would you go to buy it?

Dressier sweatpants” that I can wear out. I like the Juicy Couture tracksuit ones. If you buy it, buy it on Ebay because I could never validate spending that much money on sweatpants. Then, I can go shopping in my sweatpants! I like the ones with some design, but not a ridiculous amount of design. I do not want a bright ridiculous color like baby pink. Maybe navy or something…

3bm103- look at Nordstrom Rack. If your D likes some design you should be able to find something. My D’s both love the Juicy pants but will only wear them plain with absolutely no design on them. It seems to be harder to find the plain one’s on sale. Also the sizes run large in the pants and small in the jackets.
I have also ordered them on ebay.

3bm103, for Juicy pants, check the websites of higher-end department stores: Nordstrom, Saks, NM.They always seem to have them in the clearance section, and the prices are OK. Go directly to the sale link and search for Juicy. Our local Costco also had Juicy stuff a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks so much. I would have bought them on ebay had they been for a daughter, but they’re for a daughter in law so wanted to make it easy to return.

The dressier sweatpants reminded me of the pajama jeans. It is hard to strike the perfect balance between comfort and style! :)

Has anyone here bought those restaurant.com coupons? What has been your experience with these? There are about 30 places within 5 miles of our zip code.

No, but I just bought 2 Domino’s medium pizzas for $12 pre-tax. Order online.

Are they good? Well, I’ve had better. Sauce is too sweet. “Healthy” marinara tasted like the regular sauce to me, or did they mess up? But the price is right. Get the thin crust to reduce carbs.

I have used the restaurant.com coupons with no problems. Just be sure you read the fine print–some are valid only with a certain purchase or exclude certain days. There are ususally coupon codes out for them as well–anywhere from 50% to 80% off the coupon price.

We use the restaurant coupons and have never had a problem. The last time we were out, the people dining on both sides of us also had them.

We had no problem with restaurant .com coupon. Of course we did what they wanted you to do and spent more because we had the cou0pon :)

Just making sure you know that you can only use one coupon per visit. As Mom2M mentioned, don’t pay full price for it. You can usually find discount codes at [Coupon codes and discounts for 50,000 online stores! RetailMeNot.com](http://www.retailmenot.com).

Mom60: thanks for the Nordstrom Rack suggestion. I found exactly what she wanted and in a price so much lower than online that I also got her the jacket and a t-shirt.
