Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

^^^ what are your plans for that flannel? It’s so hot now, it’s hard to plan for flannel-times.

Hey all, I have an older cheap Kindle from one of Amazon’s promotions. It is hard to see when reading at the pool or beach. Anybody have one they use outdoors and like? And is it a model that is on sale today (Prime Day?)

I like the Kindle Paperwhite. It has a matte screen and adjustable back lighting, so it works well in both sun and dark rooms. I haven’t been on Amazon since reading about their site crashing often, so I don’t know if it’s on sale.

Love the Kindle Paperwhite as well.

The paperwhite is on sale for $79.

Yep, bought the Paperwhite especially for outdoors.

I bought a Paperwhite even though my old kindle worked fine, explicitly for the built-in light. I got so tired of dealing with an external light to read in bed at night or on a plane or anywhere where the lighting isn’t good, lugging it around and dealing with batteries. It’s so much more convenient having the light built in.

And I think it is worth saving the $20 and getting the “special offers” included. The ads are almost always for other books, and only show up when you turn the kindle on, they don’t inject themselves into your reading at all. It’s all very low key. It’s not worth $20 to get rid of them IMO.

Baby blankets. I have lots of fleece to sew into bigger blankets, but you are right, too hot to have that fabric draped over my lap while sewing.

It was great. I ordered it and it was all ready for me to pick up when I got to the store. No paying for shipping, no need to stand in line at the cutting table. It really isn’t a good thing that I know how easy this was.

Alright, just picked up a Paperwhite for an upcoming beach trip. Took the advice of @notrichenough and saved the $20. Time for me to step away from the Amazon app!

I pulled the trigger on the Paperwhite, too. Unfortunately, I am just finishing up my beach vacation and have been wrestling with a cheapie Fire. Hopefully, I will get my use out of it…

I also caved and got the Kindle Paperwhite today. I felt guilty doing so because I don’t really need it. we have at least two Nooks lying around the house, plus I have the Kindle app on my iPad. I never use the Nook anymore because I rarely buy books -I get them from the library and most ebooks they have download to Kindle easily (some will download to Nook but the process is a PITA). I can’t take my iPad to beach so finally decided to get the Paperwhite. I don’t like reading on the iPad for two reasons-the bright screen and it’s too easy to get distracted while reading with texts, emails etc. hopefully it’s worth it. I wasn’t in market for anything else today, or should I say the only other things I need/want were not marked down.

I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription I share with DW (we each get 5 books). KU goes on sale, too - last year I paid $100 for a two-year subscription, which would normally cost $240.

Not sure if it is on sale for that price right now, but I know you can get a new subscription of 3 months for $1.

The Paperwhite works great at the beach. I put mine in a ziploc bag to protect it from sand and sunscreen, and it works great through the plastic.

I went to a Lululemon outlet and spent $180 on two pairs of pants. This is normally so far above what I spend on myself, but as I wear them today I feel certain that I will wear them a LOT and that they were a good investment.

My DD still has the Lululemon pants on which she spent her money for full price Groove pants in about 2001, in Canada, they are still in great shape, though a bit wide legged.

Eddie Bauer has 60% off clearance with code HIKE60. I started browsing but feel like I’m spending $$ just because it’s a good sale. I’m finishing the book “A Year Of Less” and I think it’s rubbing off on me!

Needed another low beach chair. With credits in amazon from defective phone case and late delivery, it cost $1.17

Woot! Got a ladies ex-officio shirt for $9.97 (reg price $80) at Costco yesterday. I love it! It’s burgandy and fits me perfectly. It has a hidden zippered pocket where you can stash something—credit card, cash, etc. and has a bit of stretch to fit contours. H thinks it’s a very nice shirt!

They also had it in navy and black but I like the burgandy best.

What is an ex-officio shirt???

Sorry, ex officio is just a brand that is especially good for travel—the one I got has wrinkles just fall out of it. The style is Kizmet and there are some online at clearance for $25-60 or more at 6pm and amazon.com.

This is the shirt, but it drapes much better than in the photo.

It has sun protection, spf50 and is an excellent outer layer.

We also bought 4 pillows so we can have more restful sleep at my BIL’s (his pillows are VERY hard). Best money we ever spent—$36 for all 4 for sleeping well!
