Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Our Costco has Calvin Klein panties on clearance—3 pack @$4.97.

CVS has put their school supplies on clearance 90% off - I picked up a dozen backpacks for only .99 or $1.49 each! I got a nice pile of stuff to donate to the school where I volunteer.

@3puppies Thanks for the tip! DW picked up about $60 worth of folders and little prizes for her students. After sale and coupon, she paid exactly $0.00.

The other day, I was on the Flowfold website, previewing their products since they’re a Maine startup that sells items made of recycled racing sails. Their webpage offers a FREE card case (normally $10-12 plus shipping) if you sign up with your email. My free card case is now on its way!

From the stocking stuffer thread, i thought I’d buy some of those cool multicolor braids as little gifts and searched around online and found a similar item at under $2.50/item, with free shipping to contiguous US for purchases over $50, so the Maine hotel says fine to mail it there. I’m getting 21 of those charming braids!

Ok, can’t give the repair kits without needles, so just bought a bunch of sets of needles and am also sending them to the hotel—prices at createforless are much lower than local prices, especially with the free postage. I figure these will be handy for grab bags (braid with self-threading needles)—just attach some money or a gift card for a full gift for godchildren. At this site, it was about 1/2 the price of other sites.

I need a new door, so I checked price at Home Depot. Then I went to Lowe’s to see what else I should consider. The6 both suggested the same door.
I went back to Home Depot today, and told them Lowe’s was a little cheaper. They “worked some magic” and the door became close to 300 cheaper.
Consider this a public service announcement that it doesn’t hurt to ask for a discount.

Sitting in a restaurant across the street from a Container Store. There is a sign in their window saying that all shelving and Elfa solutions are 25% off.

@1214mom - Holy cow - how fancy is the expensive door that they can knock 300 off of the price? Does it come with a doorman?

I don’t know if you shopped for a nice double front door lately… it is not 3 digits.

@3puppies, it is NOT a fancy door. It’s really pretty basic/plain.

Bill Browder’s son has an app out called Do Not Pay (pink dollar sign on dark brown/burgundy field). It helps you get refunds for bank fees, uber and lyft, prescription drugs, etc., etc.

I tried to use it at CVS for a lower prescription price but I had a complex situation. No need to go into it but H and I and the Dr. were going back and forth and H had to exchange one of my scrips at a different pharmacy and the new one ended up being $0 instead of $98.

Moral of the story - try to save $$$ one way and you just might save it another way!

*Bill Browder is the Magnitsky Act person if you’re wondering… He comes from a family of math geniuses.

I’m slowly training my doctors to write my Rx the way my insurer wants them, 90 day supply, refillable 3x. If I fill them the way insurer wants, my copay is minimal or more often $0. If I fill 30 or 60 days, at a time, it’s $7, $14 or more for each 30 days.

On of my board members works for medical insurer and says there is a pharmacy dispensing fee each time I go to the pharmacist. It’s cheapest for insurer and therefore for patients when we just get it dispensed every 90 days instead of in shorter increments.

That said, originally, I was charged a $14 copay for my beta blocker. The pharmacist had it refunded and I send an electronic message to my doctor, asking that she switch the Rx to 90 days supply, refillable 3x and voila, I got a 90 day supply of the same Rx with no copay!

It appears Walmart is selling Lord & Taylor clothes extra 30% off. I subscribe to offers.com and got an email with this offer. How weird is that. 10/9 to 10/24 while supplies last. Apparently the flagship store is closing.

Yesterday at Target I loaded my cart up with clearance outdoor strings of 20 globe lights. (what you would use in the summer for ambience. ) Reduced to $2.98 each. I got 18 boxes. The kids are going to snarf most of them up for their homes and I am going to save a few to hang outside our cottage!

@abasket I am seeing these for $6.99 online.

Yes @raclut that was the size - mine have green string which is actually better for outside IMO blends better with nature. $2.98 was still a steal!

Nordstrom is price matching, I have no idea where.

But beauty brands that I have NEVER EVER seen on sale before. And definitely not 20% off.

I saw NARS orgasm blush 20% off and Jo Malone cologne 20% off.

Thank you @deb922 ! Time to shop for gifts.

Sorry, but that blush name!!! Is it a hot seller?!!!
