Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

They’re the eight best friends that anyone ever had…

This week, 2.37 gas at Stop and Shop (with card) and J Crew skirt my D wanted and said was too much (70.00) on sale for 29.00 plus 20 % off. : ) (first Xmas gift)

interesteddad, I had to laugh at your clothes size posts. Now you know what women have gone through when all they want is something wearable and classically styled…

My husband actually placed his own orders at Duluth Trading. He’s a big fan now. So am I ;)

spideygirl - My D’s love that movie! I heard they are now making a sequel.

God, it must be a living nightmare to have your fashion choices dictated by Brittney Spears and Lady Gaga.

Of course, men don’t have it much easier. I am forced to by Lebron James’ shorts. :)

today, 8# of concord grapes at local historical/pioneer house (120 yo). Have clippers, will find.
Yesterday, couple of handfuls of and pinot grapes (Oregon Wine country), on bike ride. (always carry grape clippers during October)
Yesterday, a Garmin Etrex Legend ($0.35). (I know where I’m at but in the next few days I want to go Chantrelle Mushrooming.

Target has tshirts (women’s crew neck) for $2. Short sleeves, nice color and size selection. I bought several, including mulitple white for both D and I.

Edible Arrangements is offering their $25 chocolate dipped fruits (doz. per box) for $10. Last day is the 24th, I believe for this deal.

At Sears the other day, they had turtlenecks in mostly cotton for $7 apiece. They also had the fridge we wanted for 20% off + an extra 5% off if you used a Sears card + $80 rebate + 10% more if you got it on a Sears cash card + $50 rebate if it was an energy saver appliance. Not as good as if we had done it during “cash for appliance clunkers,” but since we missed that, am happy we at least got this.

We MAY be getting free new sheet vinyl flooring because our floor has cuts in it. Am waiting word from the company we purchased the original sheet vinyl 4 years ago.

HImom, for future reference, I bought cotton turtlenecks at Sears for 1.99 each at the end of the winter last year. I bought every color on the rack and put them away. I just wore one of them this week.

The edible arrangements is for in store pick up only, so might not work for college kids without cars, but they do seem to have stores in a wide variety of cities

somemom, yes, I was not thinking about my college kid and we have a store not too far away from where we live, so I forgot that it is for pick up only!

I just picked up a box. I ordered in advance by phone and they allowed me to pick which type of fruit that I wanted (they did say that they try to limit it to 2 kinds of fruit for an order of just one box). I will say that it came in a beautiful looking box, with a brown ribbon around it, and they offered a coupon along with a couple of nice calendars which also have coupons in them. They put the box in a lovely plastic shopping bag too. All of this for $10 (plus tax) was a pretty good deal. This was my first order with them. To be honest, I don’t think that their regular price of $25 for this box would be worth it. I would say that I’d be willing to pay about $18 for it if I had to buy a last minute gift. More than that, and I’d rather buy a box of chocolates somehwere else. JMO.

Am trying not to shop these days as S says we have way too much junk lying around that he’s helping us clear up. We are trying to be good, since he’s a gem at helping us de-clutter. Don’t really NEED all this “stuff” anyway. Not all that fond of turtlenecks anyways.

Sierra Trading Post…I ordered a pr. of Danskos this week for $58.
STP has tons of great deals.

That is the tough thing. I like to buy things when they are good deals to conserve my money, but I don’t like to buy “stuff” because it is a good deal because I don’t like being suffocated by stuff! I try to figure out what we will really use and I pass on the extras. As far as turtlenecks, I don’t like the look, but for everyday wear when it is cold I like them. If I lived in HI I probably would never wear them anywhere other than if I had to travel to a cold climate!

Yea, I travel to the cold at least once or twice/year. I’ve gotten ever more sensitive to cold so now I get hives when I’m cold & can no longer even think about “toughing it out” as I used to. Striking the balance between too much stuff and getting good deals on things we can use is an on-going issue. I used to lean more toward buying lots of “great stuff” and now am leaning toward not buying if it won’t be used in the very near future, even if the price is amazing now. Having to store things & wonder whether tastes will change in the interim just isn’t worth it any more.

^^I do the same thing now. The only exception is that if I see a “dress outfit” for myself that fits me well and is a great price and it is a classic look, I grab it to have it on hand. For my sons I buy at the end of every season at a great price and store it. For my DH I don’t because he only gets himself a few nice things rather than quantity. My kids want so they don’t have to do laundry as often as they should being doing it!

As far as the turtlenecks, I knew that I would want them so I bought them at two bucks rather than the usual ten dollars and up (the better ones can sell for $25 each and I don’t want to spend that for shirts that I wear under sweaters).

As far as things for the home and such, I have a home full of a lifetime of living. I don’t need more! In fact as our older relatives have passed on or downsized, I accumulated even more through the years!

NEMom, I emailed my DD to ask if she wanted a surprise if she had to pick it up, the store is only a few blocks from her campus and she was happy to get a silly fun surprise. I wish we’d had threads like this years ago when I would have had more kids who could benefit. I will always do $5-10 for a random silly food gift.

^^ You’re a very nice mom, somemom!!

Glad to hear that CCers buy stuff from Sierra Tading Post. It was the only place that still had the coat I wanted (and I need it)! I’m going ahead and order it.
