I can’t say that this was a “good deal”, but I ended up ordering a fresh cooked dinner to be delivered to my DS’s off-campus house next Tues. evening. There are 3 guys to feed- so I ordered 2 whole roasted chickens with rolls, 2 side vegetables, salad and a dozen home- made chocolate chip cookies (they happen to be offering a special deal so the cookies were “free”). All together, including the delivery, it will be about $60. Not cheap, but the gratitude from my DS-- priceless.

Sheesh, NEmom, I’ve done the cookies & the popcorn & now the fruit…I am enjoying the empty nest and feeling benevolent.

I love sending care packages. I sent out 3 in 2 months (things son has needed in two of them, but I have added fun snacks to thost packages). I made 2 myself and I used Alice dot com for one package (they don’t charge for shipping and they offered a 20% discount for my first order).

One of the blessings/curses of being roughly the same size and having a fairly classic wardrobe that wears well is that after a while, you have more than you need, even if you don’t buy anything (folks gift you). I have a hard time parting with things that still fit well and look good, but S is helping me get slowly better at it.

My folks have it much worse, especially mom who has been the same size for more decades than most and still looks great in most things. Dad is always giving her clothing and both of them have ended up using just about ALL the closets in the house, plus a few extra clothes racks.

I did buy Harry & David fruits & cheeses last year when there was that amazing sale, but haven’t done anything like that so far this year. Will see D in about two weeks anyway, so will spoil her in person!

My good buys today were 20% off and free shipping over $50 at Sephora’s friends and family sale plus 30% off and free shipping from Lands End.

What was that popcorn “care package” website talked about a few weeks ago??? Popcorn Factory???

abasket…I don’t know if this is the one you are talking about, but I did order a Halloween tin filled with goodies for my son from the popcorn factory. The website I used was: [2 Gallon Boo! Party Pack - ThePopcornFactory](http://www.thepopcornfactory.com/mummy) Hope this helps.

That looks perfect! Do you know how long it takes to ship/deliver???

The popcorn site provided a calendar and you can set up a chosen delivery date, I took the last one to space out the gifts, but it seemed like they were available pretty close to the date I was looking.

One note, the popcorn goes UPS and requires a signature for delivery, DD had to set up a redelivery time & date, so it did get complex for her

Sierra Trading post is great for winter boots right after Christmas, you can check daily as the returns come in and see what is available in your size changing daily.

The freebie popcorn I sent last week or so was sent UPS and left on the porch. No signature required. You must have some fancy popcorn!

So glad you posted,jym626. I’m the one who first mentioned the free popcorn and would feel bad if all the busy college students had to set up redelivery, etc. just for some free popcorn!

Hmm, perhaps DDs apartment building is known to be problematic???

I had the popcorn delivered yesterday for my son, and he hasn’t called me yet to say that he has gotten it. I just texted him to have him check to see if it was delivered to the dorm. According to UPS, it was delivered yesterday and signed for by the “office”.

Good news… the popcorn tin arrived as scheduled. Son said it is “pretty nice”.

Maybe the UPS guy wanted a tip!

Hmmm, hopeful, did you order specifically a tin or the $10 special sampler? DD got hers and said no tin, though ‘high quality’ bags
She felt is was about right for $10

Coldwater Creek has some great scarves for $7 and $10.

I ordered the Cheryl’s cookies and GOT A PHONE CALL AT MY OFFICE!!! That was the best $5 for shipping I ever spent. My D2 has eaten 3 of 6 and loved the Snickerdoodle and Butter Cream and liked a lot the Choc Chip. She has 3 left.

She came home this weekend for a quick visit, getting a ride with a friend. She went shopping for dinner with me to get all her favorites, and got on the big grocery store scale. She was horrified (oh to be young) to find she had lost 10 lbs. I knew she had not been eating enough. So we stocked up on food to take back. AND I ordered the Popcorn special as well-the free sampler with shipping only. That was nice to be able pick the shipping date. It will arrive early Nov since I have a box to ship next week for Halloween. I could not find the special on the website, thought it was over, but then googled “popcorn factory special” and got to it easily. Can’t wait for another call!

My “good buy of the day” was a $30 haircut. It makes me feel like a million bucks. I was saving money letting it grow, but it made me look (and feel) old and tired.
