Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 2)

First time ever my extended warranty is going to pay off. Got a five year because it’s a refrigerator and they just don’t make them like they used to. Yep. 4.5 years into a 5 year warranty it needs to be worked on. Surprised it didn’t last another 6 months plus one day just for laughs.

:+1::+1: reminded me of the time we got extended warranty on our Mazda van, and the engine quit just a handful of miles short of the cutoff (70k, I think). The dealer was royally p’d off but fixed the car.

My car had transmission start acting up just before my extended warranty expired and the dealer had to replace! He tried to charge me for “cleaners,” but I told him nope, nowhere did my warranty contract say inhad to pay for cleaners or anything if my car needed warranty servicing.

I actually was able to get the dealer to give me a feee extended warranty once because my car’s transmission died just before the mfgr warranty ended. The motor on windshield wiper also died shortly after I purchased car—on first big rain.

The newer transmission died just before extended warranty died so got another “newer” one.

The dealer should have been thrilled because he got to do the work and bill the warranty provider (insurer or manufacturer).

The dealer was the warranty provider. Lol. They tried to weasel out of doing the work by asking us to provide complete records of regular services. We whipped out the folder with oil change etc. receipts.

My car unexpectedly started burning oil at 62,000 miles. My bumper to bumper full warranty expired at 60,000 miles. All servicer done at the dealer and we did double the amount of oil changes. The service manager went to bat for us. They replaced the whole engine.

And we have a lifetime warranty on anything engine related for as long as we own the car. And yes…we have it in writing. So…if the car starts burning oil again…or any other engine related issue…the manufacturer fully covers the cost of the repairs.

Not sure if it’s a good buy or more of a shipping hack.

Ulta has its 21 days of beauty promotion. Every day they have certain items on sale 50% off. Unless you are one of their premier members where you buy quite a bit from them, it’s a $35 minimum to qualify for free shipping.

Many times I will like one item but not enough for the free shipping.

Now that Target has Ulta kiosks in their stores, you can buy the daily deals through Target and if you are a circle member, free shipping no minimum.

Also Sephora usually has their own daily offers during this promotion and offers free shipping with code free ship.

I’ve purchased some great skincare with this promotion.

We have an Ulta store. Any recommended products to watch for on their daily sales?

I use a couple of different brands of relatively expensive shampoo. I look for good deals on them.

While I do think that styles and size of earbuds is a personal choice, I thought I’d share these earbuds.

I bought them July 2021 and still love them. Great battery life. And I noticed they are a fantastic price today! Sort of want to buy them for Easter baskets or something but again, not sure what my kids prefer!

Well this is new to me. Lowes cancelled my refrigerator repair because they can’t find anyone to repair it so they’re refunding the price of the frig. Anyone ever heard that one?

Wow—that doesn’t sound good but I guess you can find your own repair person and come out ahead if the fridge can be repaired.

I really don’t think it would be hard to repair. I just never heard of that before.

I believe a year into the pandemic we were faced with a 4 week repair wait, or to buy a new washer.

We bought a new one. Probably could have been fixed but 4 weeks is long time. I believe they offered us money towards a new one, too? Details are blurry now.

Thank you @abasket for the recommendation. I am struggling to find a pair I really like and don’t mind giving these a try at such a good price.

Something similar happened with a Sears washing machine. We had an extended warranty on the washer but the particular part was no longer available. Sears told us to come in, pick a new washing machine of equal value and they would deliver.

Still can’t believe how nice and easy it was.

Another time something similar happened: I dropped my iPhone in the swimming pool the week before the warranty expired. I went to Apple and was honest about what happened. I walked out with a new iPhone - no charge. They did say that if it had happened more than once then I would have been out of luck but this was the only time I had brought my phone in.

Those earbuds look like a great deal. I still use wired. That is partly due to charging concerns and partly due to running logistics (there is a “tether” to hold cellphone if it drops or to capture earbud when removing hats etc). But I might give those a try.

Can you plug in to charge or do you also have to buy that disc thing to charge?

Are they comfortable and would you say the earbuds would work for small ear canals? I have a few different pairs and am still searching for wireless ones that fit as well as some cheap wired ones I bought years ago.
